Cannot get enough gp they are worth every penny and more im fine with there marketing being non existent because i got my two tone laureato olimpico 8017 for an absolute steal...its ten times better than my vintage datejust at 1 to 2k cheaper its insane

Hi, James. Congrats on your Laureato. They are gorgeous models. Some things can be argued but who can argue on GP’s quality. They deserve way more attention. 👌

Shame this gets such few views. I'm glad I found it because I'm having same Dilemma. The GP is a way better looking piece in every way and that's what's important to me. It's also Curved and way more comfortable to wear. I don't give a Fuck about resale value. Why the fuck would anyone sell their watch unless they have No pot to piss in. Besides...how long will a few thousand $'s keep you off tge streets?

Thanks Rich. Your JLC remorse lingers....and your handsome GP is barely offering satisfaction as I hear it. If I were in your situation an ALS Cabaret (used) might be a possibility.

It just feels good to have a charming rectangular on the wrist. My first one was the humble quartz Cartier Tank ($400 back in '80), but they were fun. Still have a very cool Bulova rectangular gold case from the 60's, with a black decco dial. Has some width to it, which is a plus. Hope to see you next year, Rich. My Best, JP

Your GP is a beautiful piece. The dial coloration and texture, the indices, the subdial and the hands all reflect serious watchmaking excellence. The date window placement is atypical but extremely thoughtful in terms of having the least amount of impact on the symmetric visual balance. Reverso so dominates JLC’s catalogue that it is ubiquitous. The Reverso casing makes service more complex as it requires the disassembly of about 50 parts and essentially mandates service at the JLC service center in New Jersey.

Hi Rich, Long time no see.... Hope that you are doing okay, but it seems like your reviews are coming less frequent and even you are venturing into something different which is a bit risky move. But no matter what, I always wish you the best. This review is little repetitious and ranty, but I liked it because it showed more personal side of you, how you feel about your watches and what to expect from two different watches. I enjoyed it, but I believe that it won't be everyone's cup of tea. I always loved Jaeger-LeCoultre, specially when I saw THE CROWN AFFAIR, Pierce Brosnan was wearing Jaeger Le-Coultre. (I am a huge movie buff, by the way). Came close to buy one or two few times, but I decided to buy Rolex President & Rolex GMT instead. I don't wear them much because they are just too flashy, but as an investment, I guess I made good decision. Someday, I will be buying Jaeger-LeCoultre (older man's watch) over Girard-Perregaux, ha ha. By the way, if I would have to buy one, yes, I would buy the Jaeger-LeCoultre with moon & power indicator, the exactly same one. Thanks Rich and best of luck to you.

I love movies too, man. I’ve been busy, yes, and for good reason. You have no idea how much I wanna announce it...soon I hope. Pierce Brosnan is great in just about everything he does. Thanks, Alex movie 🍿

Hi Rich. I own a 1991 GP SeaHawk, and a 1945 similar to yours, with a champagne dial, that was made in 1998. No one I know has any idea what a GP is or what it means in the watch industry. For this reason, I was able to afford these timepieces. I always wanted to own a heritage Swiss brand, and this lack of recognition that the GP brand has here in the states allowed me to buy them. I own these watches simply because they mean something special to me personally, and I could never afford the brands that others recognize as luxury items. We who love watches still have to live within our means. Your GP is beautiful. Wear it with pride!

Rich I was looking at a pre owned Reverso and it also didn’t fit my wrist. It fit awkward so I can relate to that. Honestly I had such high expectations for seeing one in person that it left me feeling flat. I mean the finishing was nothing to write home about. I did like having the option of a black dial on one side and white on the other but I just don’t agree with how expensive it is. Hopefully a micro brand can figure a way to make a two sided dial that looks modern. Not a Reverso look alike tho but square could work. Anyway when you talked about the fit problem for u it really hit home for me to. Great video. Never stop my boy Rich. 👍

Well, I`m partial to GP, having had a number over the years. Their vintage timepieces show an advantage of being an underrated brand - you can still afford them. Which is increasingly no longer the case with old Rolex, Omega or JLC, which are no better, just more prominent. The original Reverso is great though and if I had a Rolex lying around, I`d trade it for one.....
