I'm only 17 and I've been watching these "What's Up Moms" videos forever!!! My uncle is moving, and has to work a lot. So, since I'm on Summer break, I've been packing, organizing the garage sale, and moving planning the move. I've done it with Elle's ideas in mind, and even went back and watched the video a couple of times. I am SO excited to become a mom and use all the tips and tricks these wonderful Moms have shared! I LOVE YOU!

Just as someone with LOADS of moving experience I have to say you learned most of it the hard way. But, hectivity can be vanquished!! 1. If the house is empty and you're not waiting for the previous tenant to leave, put minor stuff in your car and move it yourself. 2. Remember that what comes apart, needs to stay together. Aside from just the tools make sure the different PIECES are together. Or at least marked so that you can find them easier. (My twin and I were very upset when we were little and couldn't go to sleep because we were missing one of the bed frame pieces.) 3. Do not pack important things. Very stupid sounding, yes. But very true. We packed ALL my sister's toys and her room and we were set to start unpacking the next day. But then we were kept up until 6 AM, searching for her favorite toy, opening and moving and exhausting ourselves. (We found it inside one of the kitchen boxes after half-unpacking the rest of the house.) 4. If something that can be broken down, can fit in your car. Put the pieces in your car. Life is easier when you know everything is together. (Basically a combination of the first two) 5. (Last one I promise) Make sure that wherever your kid is, even if it's the car. They're out of the movers (AKA danger's) way. We broke a TV because my sister was rushing to check out her new room. Um, I think that's all I can recommend. Sorry you have to move again so soon.

Awww..I wished to jump through the screen and help you girl! I have 2 kids, a son and daughter, they are now adults, 25 and almost 21. How did I move 10-11 times when they were little without KZbin? Not all sure! LoL... I was organized but I didnt ever have movers, just couldn't afford it. BIG TIP: 1 thing I always did was make an "overnight" bag (small luggage on wheels) for 2 nights at least and there was everything I would need for hubby and I as well as the kids, and a shoebox (sometimes a wipe box) with those crews and bolts and pieces needed for assembly of the furniture (panic attack if I lose that stuff). Also, Nikki from "AtHomewithNikki" did a video on how to organize when moving, with a color coded chart that was brilliant! She's more organized than I am and did a great job explaning! Check her out though Elle. Love this channel, I wish I had this reference back 15-20 yrs ago, pretty helpful. Good luck sweetie! Jules;)

Tip I saw somewhere: Pack a carry-on suitcase/backpack for each member of the family with the things you'll need for the night and the next day so that you don't have to go searching through boxes for pajamas or a toothbrush when you're exhausted. Bring this suitcase along in the car when you move, so you know where it is at all times.

just found your channel because of Tati. love it. as for moving tips, i have several. start packing things you don't use early. buy a notebook that you will use to log each and every box you pack. each sheet of paper is one box. label the paper with the box number and then start listing each item that goes into that box. trust me, when you need your coffee maker and mugs you don't want to have to look through 30 boxes simply labeled kitchen. this will help when you have boxes that you know the contents you don't really need. so as they get stored in the garage you know exactly what is inside. each box needs to be labeled on all 4 sides. i do the bottom right corner. you don't need to buy all new boxes. lots of grocery stores will give you boxes for free. just call and find out if they have some. sometimes it is certain days they tend of have them so check that as well. hope it helps

Awesome tips!! Love numbering rooms and agree 100% with mixing of the boxes. Toward the end of the night (ahem, morning) I was throwing random stuff in boxes. You pay for it later!

My tip for moving... Paper plates, cups, utensils.. A supply for 3-4 days.. Thus u can pack up your entire kitchen and have no dishes the night before and u can easily mark everything. Then recycle!!
@JessWoods22458 жыл бұрын
i know its obviously a few years too late to give this tip, but here it is anyways. when moving, instead of packing clothes into boxes, i would cut out cardboard to fit over the dresser drawer and tape it on there. and for clothing hung up, just slide garbage bags over 10 hangers or so and tie it around the neck of the hangars. the rest of my stuff i have organized in containers anyways so its just easy to box and unbox. with books id take ribbons and tie it like a christmas present (X fashion), usually 5 or 10 books in one package, depending on the weight/size of the books. makes it easier than unpacking 3 or so books at a time or what ever you can fit your hands around

I would recommend that instead of taking everything out of your wardrobe and putting it into one of those cardboard closet boxes just go to ikea or target and buy a moveable framed hanging system. Then all you need to do is just bubble wrap all your close all together. It was a life saver for us Because you can just leave it on the moveable rail until you are ready to put all of your stuff away or in your case, moving again. Hope this helps. X

When you move in make a plan of what to take out first like If your making your room first then put all the supplies for your room in the back so when you open the truck door you can easily just strait away move it in Tip2. Take all the boxes out of the truck before Arranging Tip3. When you take the boxes out That have labels like KITCHEN Then put all those boxes in the kitchen Tip4.When you arrive at the site remember to take out the most important toy first to keep your kids Distracted while your moving the boxes in to make sure you don't here "MOMMY I WANT MY PLAY SET!!!!!"

Tip for moving. If you have lots of plate then find big plastic bags and put the first plate in the bag the put a peace of paper towel on the plate and put the next plate on the plate thant has a paper towel on. If you have.lots of cups/glases then take a news paper peace put the cup on the paper and lift all of the corners from news paper and tuck them in to the cup. Put all these things in plastic bag buble wrap with tape sticked on the bag and the put in the box an here is a weird thing when you are moving and you have kid/s then let them choose 5 items to pack them last and 2 toys that they will play with when all of the stuff is being moved to the new place.

At least we had a Christmas tree, and Christmas dinner at our houst. My number one moving tip. ALWAYS have a get go bag for each member of the family. This is a backpack full of all the things you'll need straight away. Like toiletries, pajamas, clothes for the next day. For kids this could include bottles, pacifiers, maybe a teddy that the kid can't sleep without. I never move house without a get go bag.
