A pair of 8 pins on that dock gives you a LOT of freedom for GPUs. There are 3080s with only 2 x 8 pins as well as many MANY mid range AMD cards. Also if you care to use an adapter pretty much any 4070 will work.

Here is something that should be noted about liquid metal cooling. Do not use liquid metal paste if your heatsink is made out of aluminium. Liquid metal thermal paste is based on galistan, alloy of galium which is also used as replacement for mercury. You all know how mercury reacts with aluminium. Galistan also reacts with aluminium but very slowly and over time will destroy aluminium heatsink.

Seeing how you powered the 4090 I wouldn't be surprised to see the 12 pin, or the other 8 pin PCIe cables melt. Both 8 pin cables will provide 300W, and the 75W from the GPU slot only give 375W of power, and OMFG this card pulled 550W.
@KimionTMАй бұрын
8pin PCIe can actually handle 300W each, even though they are rated for 150W only. If they weren't able to, that thin 12V Nvidia connector would've had no chance of pulling 600W
@mihajlostosic2647Ай бұрын
@@KimionTM Not saying they aren't able to, but it's not recommended. They can only provide 150W maximum sustained power, and going over is okay if it is in short periods of time (miliseconds).
@hithere738226 күн бұрын
@@mihajlostosic2647 This is why I like full tower and 4u rack systems with lots of fans so that the wires don't get too hot and neither does anything else. Then they got loud and I put them all in one room and had the walls spray foamed between so we can't hear them running and run long extensions for HIDs and monitors.
