Same here. But for me, my parents could afford to buy me food and such. They were abusive and pretended they couldn't afford to buy me clothes or school supplies or toiletries. Then they'd "accidentally" spend tons of money on video games and designer clothing for my older brother. Even after I got a job, it was kept locked away in a bank account I still don't have access to at this day (I'm 21 and could get in now if I wanted probably, but it's most likely empty), so there was nothing I could do. I had to work around using the same toothbrush for a year, surviving off travel deodorant, wearing pajama shirts under a sweatshirt to school, etc.

Now this is something I relate to. I was absolutely _panicking_ when debt collectors arrived at our door and told me that my mom hasn't paid the rent in months. They threatened to take all of our stuff. When I told my mom, she was like: "Oh don't worry, that happens all the time, they're just empty threats." This reminds me of a story that I heard a long time ago, about one of my old friends who is severely mentally challenged. She still enjoys all of the same things as a little kid would even though she's physically an adult in her 20's, because she's 5-years-old mentally and will be the same for the rest of her life no matter how old she gets. She has P.D.D.N.O.S. (Pervasive Developmental Disorder Not Otherwise Specified). Anyway, one time at a children's museum some of the parents gave her dirty looks while she was playing on the fire engine with some kids in a play area. They probably thought she was a predator, when she was just having innocent fun and she doesn't even know anything about that kind of stuff. Thank goodness she didn't notice that because it would've hurt her feelings if she did, but the caregiver she was with did and that made her angry and rightfully so. Then, the caregiver took my friend home after complaining to one of the people who worked there which is a good thing to do in that situation. I don't remember the rest of the story. But if I was there, I would've said something about it and probably felt like decking some of those people for acting ignorant. Although, I wouldn't have done that because I wouldn't want to get hurt or arrested. Plus, violence doesn't solve any problems except when it's used in self defense. But still, I'd feel that way like anyone would. Instead I would've said that I understand why you're worried since it is sometimes strange to see an adult or teen on a playground who's not looking after any of the kids. Then I would've explained that she is not a pedophile, and that she thinks and acts like a child because she's disabled and that's how her brain works, and to her and others who understand all she's doing is having innocent fun and there's nothing wrong with that. If they continued acting like jerks after that explanation I would've said, "I hope your kids don't pick up on your bad attitudes and ignorance," and then left with my group. That might be risky, and it won't always go over well. But, it's always worth it to do the right thing. I also can sort of relate to the judgements even though the situations are slightly different since I'm both mentally and physically almost 30, because I have high-functioning Autism and I have been called stupid (which I'm far from even though I have trouble in some departments just like everyone else), and weird (like getting made fun of for my interest in world music for example) a lot over the years by both kids and adults. I may be a little unique, but so what. It's better than being boring. Anyway, this might be a good idea for the next W.W.Y.D. episode. They need new episodes. I'm sick of them re-uploading their old ones, and taking a long time in between new ones. Who's with me?
