As a law student and somebody who has worked for lawyers since 2014 I can only say: Set up a prenup! Over the years I have learned that family fights worse than anybody else. I don't think that a prenup is bad nor does signing one mean that you think your marriage won't last. Just make sure that you will have an okay life in case something goes wrong!

Unpopular Opinion: Pre-ups are totally reasonable and should be acceptable to do. It should be normalized. It doesn't mean it's a guaranteed divorce, it's just in case because we don't know what will happen in life. Life Happens. Effort is no longer being made to make the marriage work. Feelings change. Love is no longer respected. Whichever. Like Slaiman said, about more than half of marriage end in divorce. There are people out there that marry to get money and power and divorce to get some. Conventional wisdom is that if you do have a pre-nup, then there is generally less commitment to stay married when you you rough patches. Thus the rate of divorce would be higher. When people get married they do so with the hope their marriage is going to last, but that is not always the case, and this is where a prenup comes in handy. As again a prenup is an insurance policy, that lays out what is to happen in the event of a divorce. With all this being said, a prenuptial agreement is not something to be entered into lightly and both parties need to be fully aware and have made equal contribution to the contents within the prenup. My husband and I have a prenup which we keep regularly updated as our lives change and we have been happily married 20 years now. 🙂

The biggest reason for divorce isn't even loss of love, it's financial issues. To me though, the real reason marriages end is because of the lack of commitment. Divorces don't just fall on people, the couple has to choose to get the divorce, meaning someone wasn't 100% committed. And if you are not committed and/or are unsure about your partner's commitment, you shouldn't even get married in the first place because you likely will end up another divorce statistic.

Because if you sign that you are basically having to accept you gonna end up with that man forever, having to work thru the problems that will eventually happen, cause they always do. Most women just want that safety of if i get divorced I'm gonna take half his stuff and probably child support and who knows what else. It's basically free real state for her.
