Since our previous video of the PROPER way to mount and balance a set of wheels and tires AND showing off some of our top of the line Hunter equipment! Not super flashy and entertaining but it IS educational so hopefully you all still enjoy it!

Tire paste would be your friend on 30 series. Just wondering why you use lube ? I like hearing why people like using one I’ve true other. I like the paste I always find it involves less effort on my part .

That was very educational. Shops down here doesn’t want a customer watching the work being done. Always say insurance regs. Can’t imagine anyone down here going that far for balancing. Every time I needed balancing the time probably wasn’t that much difference than the ole bubble in a circle balancer. I run a lot more meat on the sidewalls with the 20’s. Living on a dirt road in Texas the potholes are larger than the tires.

Lol yeah this is more than MOST people will attempt on balancing, honestly most shops don't even have the equipment to do this level of stuff. We don't really ever let customers out on the shop floor to watch this stuff, too many ways someone can get hurt. But part of why we show these activities in video is to see exactly how it's done.

I paid a shop extra to spend this kind of time and dedication to getting a set of wheels and tires as perfectly matched as possible. 3 wheels had 0.25oz total each, one required no weights at all. I can confirm they're perfect as I HPDE road course the car periodically, and you can notice the difference to wheels that aren't that perfect.

Sounds like the shop you went to had the tools and knew how to use them! Kudos to whoever was working on it. For a lot of folks with just the usual "road going" vehicle a normal mount and balance is fine, but when it comes to perfect balancing nothing beats a Road Force.

Very informative video. Thanks. Are you sure the yellow dot is heaviest part of the tire? Most manufactures like toyo and Yokohama say yellow dot is lightest part of the tire and red is high point or as you said tallest radius
@age_of_reason
@age_of_reason 2 жыл бұрын
The yellow dot is only a guide to assist the technician in balancing the tire. Putting the yellow dot near the valve stem balances the tire to a certain degree (gets the balancing started of you will) and may reduce the amount of weight the tire technician will need to use to balance the tire.

Thanks Kelly we appreciate it! A lot of the work we all do isn't flashy, but it needs to be done the RIGHT way!

Yellow is the lightest part..

If the lightest part of the wheel without the valve stem is expected to be the part near the valve stem hole, how would the valve stem negate that? I mean, I've had better luck with metal valve stems on trucks and metal sheathed ones on cars, so I always get those when I can.

That’s interesting to see the whole process thanks , I have a question regarding measuring the lateral runout - if a wheel has been refurbed on a lathe , eg diamond cut - that front face you measured will always be true, but at the back of the wheel it could be out, can the measuring be done at the back or even with the tyre off - inside the rim ?
@LucoreAuto
@LucoreAuto 3 жыл бұрын
Good question, glad you enjoyed the video! Yes you can measure the runout against against other areas of the wheel as long as you can sweep the arms into position. You can also reverse mount the wheel on the balancer if need be. We OFTEN will test a wheel with no tire on it before mounting is done, as anyone who's bought aftermarket wheels will know.. Once you've mounted a tire on it, you own it!

It is critical that the collet supports the wheel on the structural taper for accurate balancing. Incorrect contact can allow the wheel to move while on the balancer, leading to false readings and an inaccurate balance. If working with a high-end or easily damaged wheel, use a wheel lift or ask another tech to help you with the assembly to prevent it from knocking into the spindle while mounting. Some wheels feature rim flanges that are not intended for clip-on wheel weight application and are only added for decoration purposes. All rim flanges that are less than 3/16-in. deep should utilize adhesive wheel weights. If you use adhesive wheel weights, you should also check that the brake caliper clearance to the weight is a minimum of 1/8-in. to prevent damage and the weights being stripped off. No one wants to have thier expensive wheels damaged. So, If you want to protect your wheels, you have to lay some groundwork first. You need to choose your shop carefully, and one important factor should be their mounting equipment. How does it deal with mounting head issues? The newer mounters feature heads made of composite plastic or metal heads containing Kevlar inserts to protect wheel finishes from touches. What you don't want are the older bare-steel head machines that have the most difficulty with low-profile tires. Long story short, you want your shop to have good equipment, pride in their skill at avoiding negligent damage and procedures in place for dealing with the inevitable accidental damage. You may also want to know that they have the ability to perform or contract high-quality refinishing services if necessary. 😉👍

I didn't watch the entire video. But what did you guys up doing with the rim that had the bend in it? Swap it out or send it to a reconditioning place?
@auteurfiddler8706
@auteurfiddler8706 2 жыл бұрын
Maybe he called the customer and he said to use the bent one. But I was wondering that, too. When you get wheels like these with super low profile tires, you have to figure most of them will be bent because there is little tire to protect them.

Howdy LUCORE, I've never had this precise a "BALANCE" placed on any (ANY) of my CAR / TRUCK / MOTORCYCLE Tires or Wheels CURIOUS of the cost - Cost - COST = scare me :-) COOP .......................................
@LucoreAuto
@LucoreAuto 4 жыл бұрын
Most shops can't/WON'T go to this level of balance, and to be quite honest it's not necessary for most applications. Clearly a lot more work that just mount it, spin it, and ship it. Typical cost is about twice what a normal mount and balance goes for.

None of my wheels had a red dot. I was told that meant they were not married. JK But seriously: When I see KZbinrs doing burnouts on good tires, I can picture all this work having gone into getting these good tires, and of course the price of the tires and the labor.

Staggered wheels, probably a rear wheel drive car. My guess is a Corvette. But those tires look a bit narrow for a Corvette. Maybe a smaller RWD car, possibly with a V6? Stay gold.
Why do my balanced wheels STILL shake? 😩| And how to FIX it 😁
