Wheel Of Time Episode 7 Preview Spoiler Speculation

Wheel of Time Season 1 Episode 7 Preview has been released, and it's time to speculate with spoilers. At the end of Episode 6 they entered the ways, and we see their journey through the ways before exiting onto Faldara Keep. Moiraine warns the Emondsfielders that whoever goes to the Eye of the World and is not the dragon will die. But is this a good story, does it have a strong foundation? Was this worth changing from the books? We find out, this Friday.

Obviously they have changed so much about this story, this isn't really spoilers, and is more speculation. Anything anyone knows about this series at this point, is almost irrelevant. So that said, do you think the show can manage an uptick in quality towards the end of the series? Could they have saved the best till last?

What would be the "best for last" be at this point? It's gotten so off the rails at this point I hope it gets canceled. I've thought of this as many of us have I'm sure but I feel the best chance of ever getting a real visual WoT would be by animated series sadly.

I'm guessing it'll get worse. They've teased the whole "the dragon can be anyone and everyone" thing so much that I think they'll go that route. Rafe has said that fans will already know who the dragon is, so Rand obviously, and I personally think Egwene. Nyn can't be, too old, and Mat and Perrin cant be because the writers hate the boys. That way Rand can go mad and possibly turn to the shadow and Egwene can save the day.

I can definitely understand the "It's funnier to watch it get worse" aspect. After midway through episode 5 review I think that's where my own videos have ended up. Although I don't think I even have to hope for that, it seems inevitable because it's designed this way. I do think they could make episode 7 and 8 good, even from their current starting point. They could even hard reset and course correct in the 2 episodes if they really wanted to. But I'm no longer holding out hope for it to. So laughing at it, it is.

@@Vuntermonkey dude when in episode 5 Egwene shouted tp Perrin while he's being bled out. "It may take you the rest of your life to realise Perrin but its not your fault". I died laughing. That was the ultimate dark humour burn they never even realised they wrote. I think we're well into parody for sections of this. Even episode 1 where the womens circle surrounded a trolloc. Parody.

New Flash: Moiraine dies in Ep8, because as she said, anyone who goes to the Eye and isn't the Dragon will die. Moiraine definitely goes to the Eye and is definitely not the Dragon.

best option, they use the rings egwene rescued from the dead aes sedai and infuse it with the one power and they'll summon a green haired mullet guy with the dragon symbol on his chest. then he'll fight the dark one who's made of gas, then egwene will say something that shows how awesome she is and nynaeve appears behind the dark one and kills him.

We would also need to bring in as many people as possible to tell Egwene and Nynaeve that they are the bestest ever and that the entire world is all so grateful that they alone have the fate of the world in their hands. And then it'll be perfect!

Thank you that's high praise. I love shads reviews too after I've done mine his is the first I go and watch. And I've been in your position before with Batwoman and heelsvsbabyface going through the show. The best thing to do with these kind of things, is laugh at them. They're made with the intention of "changing/fixing the world" and it removes any power from it when people just laugh in their face.

Absolutely. I'll accept some moving of characters around for an adaptation. But only if it doesn't destroy the character. Min wasn't a major part of the first book so if they move her stuff till later I wouldn't consider it that big of a deal personally. But we saw how that ended up with Thom, so if she gets the Thom treatment, this won't end well..

Not at all what it was in the books but this one time i can see why you would make that change and this is simply the cost of depicting the blight with the rotting ground and decayed trees might be more than they want to spend considering they travel through the blight a bit but its not a major aspect at this point. However given what i have seen from the show so far i would be more inclined to believe its simply a diversity thing.

I must confess that I watched almost all the CW Arrowverse, but piece by piece i dropped all the shows, not because they had gay characters, black characters, trans characters, I could give a f**k about that, because the stories were so fu****g bad.

I hate how they turned the Dragon from the harbinger of end times to the vague messiah figure of awesome power. The first line in the prophecy: "And it shall come to pass that what men made shall be shattered".

This seems to be intended by Rafe too, rather than an accident of script. It's something I've never understood why it's been done that way, I can only think they REALLY wanted to show off Rosamund Pike and don't really trust the other actors to carry their weight. Because from any other point of view, even in their own script, she's still not important enough to be the main character.

@@disparutoo : it's a Rafe love letter to his mum...the whole thing. It's not an accident. Main characters are strong, intelligent, wise, mature women, with Moiraine as a focus point. Also, no way to get such a big name as Pike and not make her the main character. (She even signed up as a Producer to insure herself some say in the writing room). Amazon went about it the wrong way in all the possible ways possible. Take middle name actors/actresses, spend less of your budget (or more equally, between main cast b list celebrities, not a listers), and push new talents as the main cast, the real one from the books, the EF5...

I have no idea why, I can't even remember where this originally came from. Moiraine just started spouting it out loud like it was fact and we should all know it. I think the first time we heard it was with Suian during the getting jiggy scene? But it literally seems to have been plucked out of the air to add tension. Rather than doing something that actually has tension naturally.

You've been a light in the darkness for me when it comes to this show. No matter where I turn, I see people praising this show. You call it as it is, and you have since the very beginning. I watch a few other channels that have similar views, but it's like they don't want to go all in and hate the show because they're such fans of the series. But for me, that's exactly why I hate the show as much as I do. I've been reading this since high school, and am a long time fan, and for it to get ruined and changed to the point it's more plagiarism than anything is quite disgusting and upsetting. I read a few comments on your other videos about how you shouldn't just bash things: I say to hell with that thinking. Someone needs to call it as it is, otherwise this shit will never end. Oh I absolutely won't stop, especially for WoT these books have been with me since I was a child. And I just say my opinion on things, if people don't like it, no-ones making them watch. If I think something is good, I'll say so and visa versa. My reviews changed as time went on, because I think the show has gotten worse. ESPECIALLY with 5 and 6. I even said for 2 I thought it was a step up from episode 1. I don't know if you watch Knights Watch, but they've done reviews of the episodes and, well, he's certainly willing to say what he thinks, highly recommend. But I couldn't FAKE believing something anyway, I genuinely can't say I like something if I don't. Not because I can't lie, but because I can't think of what to actually say. I genuinely can't think of what I'd praise about episode 6 and actually have it be good content.

They literally cut Mat, one of my favourite characters out of the story. And I was only concerned that doing that made him look like a coward. I don't think him not being there impacts on the story at all...because none of the guys have ever done anything or made any impact. But that's all by design. So yeah, they can't tease me with characters leaving when they've not made me like them.

I'm not hate watching it, I'm just giving my honest opinion about what's infront of me. Now I've definitely lost hope for the show, and wouldn't be watching it without these reviews. I said in my Ep4 review, after that episode I'd be out, but I'm going to continue because of these reviews and to catalogue what's happened to one of my favourite book series. At first I had a lot more I liked about show, but the more they changed, the more they thought they could write better material and stories than the source material, the worse it got. If there are scenes I like (like I think the magic still looks good) I point it out, and I still have a small hope that somewhere, a talented writer might accidentally get hired. But otherwise, I'm just going to laugh in their faces.

e 7 - 1)Doubled down on the need for female channeling to reopen the door - in the network created by male Aye Sedai for the non-channeling Ogier to use on THEIR OWN! 2) Padan Fain can apparently channel Saidar, opening Way gates all over the place! 3) Padan Fain should be after the dagger, then across to the white cloaks to destroy the two rivers, also after "Perrin Kinslayer". 4) Prophecies all have the dragon wielding Callandor in the final battle -perhaps wandering up untrained is one of Morrianes "better ideas"?

I've just restarted the series and I have a question maybe you could answer. Is there any literature on all of the lore in the books that are just mentioned? Like more on the steel tower that mat went to or more on the stories that Thom tells. That one thing I didn't really like about the series it's totally understandable but I would like to know more about the world and its stories

I'm not sure actually. Your best bet is to google what you're interested in and then "wheel of time wiki". That's an awesome resource that goes in depth about all of the characters and places etc. If it's known, they've probably recorded it there. For official literature there is New Spring that goes into Moraine and Lans origin story, a comic and a companion book (billed as an ecyclodpedia) and I think there may have been another companion type book too, and a really old video game. Out of those I have only read New Spring though. I only found out about the others during this show. So I don't know if what detail they might provide on specifics, but I plan to read the companion myself.

The only saving grace was the spear dance at the start and even that was kinda amateur hour. The rest was just Rafe pouring more petrol on the dumpster fire. Love how Min Farshaw was also race-swapped from the books and now looks like she sells meth in seedy back alleys as her day job.

In general I have the same irritation with this depiction but I think you're off on the people will die part. I definitely took that as the stand off with the dark one as possibly dying, and not so much travelling through the ways in this scenario.

I think you're confusing what I said. The 2nd part about Moiraine saying "everyone will die who isn't the dragon" is definitely about the dark one and is a 2nd part of discussion in the video. The first part was more "the end cliffhanger of the trailer about saying you'll watch people die". That's done inside the ways, and definitely refers to inside the ways. It's spoilers to go into why, or what. But that is something they've taken largely from the books except this time we can clearly hear the words rather than it being "on the edge of understanding".

I'm actually not TOO bothered by that. Her part in book 1 was relatively short, and moving it to another city wouldn't have to change anything about what she does. Of course, they likely will, but just on it's own, it didn't have to.

What's the point of making a cliffhanger that you spoil in a preview for the next episode? I've seen it before and it makes them look stupid for doing it. I just listened to a talk between Brandon Sanderson and some guy called Dan,it's on Sanderson's channel, and he talks a lot about why they made some changes in the tv show. I didn't buy what he was saying but it'd be interesting to hear your thoughts.

I only know Brandon from his books, and I've seen none of this stuff in his works, either his own or when he finished WoT. I also don't blame him for this show as he was just giving advice so he wouldn't have any power over if they listened or not. I've seen Ep27 of that talk show but not the latest one, he was talking about how he saw it as another turning of the wheel and people shouldn't dislike the show because it's only adaptation they'll get. I totally disagree, I don't think the whole wheel thing stands up at all, nor is it what anyone wanted. But I understand his position that if he said anything like I have, it would harm his future career. And destroying your career for someone elses book series? I'm not sure I could think he has that duty. I respect people who speak out, but I can understand not wanting to. I DO think he has a duty to protect his own though. And if he did an adaptation with his own IPs and the same thing happened, I would be far less forgiving. Personally, if he was "just being nice" and fence sitting, I'd have preferred him to say nothing. And if he really believes what he said, I can only hope he never puts any of the tripe into his own works.

@@disparutoo I disagree. Both Sanderson and Jordan's wife, Harriet McDougal should have told Amazon to get lost when they were offered gigs as consulting producers, once they read the draft scripts. They both had a duty to Jordan's legacy and failed. While the rights were sold years ago and they probably had very little creative control, the least they could have done was distance themselves from this dumpster fire and disavow any involvement. They took Amazon's money and are therefore complicit, so Sanderson can sod off. No-one's buying his pitiful excuses.

Oh I agree, especially in episode 5 and 6 it's just awful. And now it's so far away from the books there isn't even that much to reference from them. That's why my initial reviews talked about them so much more than my recent ones. I struggle to put myself in the position of someone who hasn't read them, but I know several people who didn't even hear about the series before the show, all have stopped watching after episode 4-5..

Poorly manufactured drama that could have easily been avoided if the characters were as intelligent as their book counterparts. The show wrongly attempted to emulate Game of Thrones. They failed to understand that one of the most crucial reasons that Game of Thrones was so compelling was the stakes. Instead they seemed to have used season 8 Game of Thrones as their template but dialed up the wokeness to 11.

But their biggest issue is if they want to dive into the political intrigue games in the books, they need REALLY good writers for it, or just take it direct word for word from the books. I've been reading these books since the beginning. Eagerly awaiting a year or more for each new book to come out and have reread them and listened to the audio books multiple times so I'm no casual book fan. Saying that, I'm loving the Amazon series. Almost all the changes they have made I have loved and those that I question I hope will pay off in later episodes or seasons. They have given me and many fans of the books a fresh, new perspective on the story. Would I have liked to see a word for word recreation of the books, maybe, but in my opinion, it would have been the same as if I was just reading the books again. I'm looking at it like it's just a new turning of the wheel. The heart and soul and the spine of the story is still there. I'm sorry you're not enjoying it, I wish you were, but this show was not created just for the book fans. We were always going to watch it, it had appeal to the non-book reader more then to us or it would not last. So that meant that there had to be changes, and significant changes at that to bring in those not familiar with the source material. Also, one of the things I'm really enjoying about the show is that people I know who were not interested in reading the books are now picking up them up and reading them. They are also constantly asking me questions about the story. Which to me is the greatest side effect of the show. The Wheel of Time community has always been one of, if not the best fandom around. Accepting of all, always willing to help and happy to answer the questions of the new reader without giving too much away. In closing all I can say, and I mean no disrespect here, is just don't watch it. If you try a food and it tastes like rotting flesh you don't keep eating it, hoping it gets better, right?

To me, if this absolute abortion of a series entices more people to read the books then it is almost worth it. But as to the rest of your points...no, just no.

@@jacobyrassilon Agreed. The heart and spine are not the same at all. The weaving of souls to build reality, balance of male/female battling a destructive outside force, the actual characters and world itself are all gone from this. What we have is a group of people with some familiar names doing somewhat familiar actions in somewhat familiar settings, but for completely different reasons. The heart and spine of the story is what was ripped out and all that remains is a fleshy pile of filth unable to support its own weight.

@@jacobyrassilon I'm sorry that you're not enjoying the show but I respect your right to your opinion. As with anything pertaining to the arts all opinions are subjective. neither one of us is wrong in liking or disliking the show. What I'm trying to understand is, if you hate the show so much, why keep watching? I know that if I dislike a show, Letter Kenny comes to mind, I just stop watching it and move on.

@@jamessimmons1486 It's simple....I made a promise to myself to watch the first season. As bad as it is right now, there is some small sliver of hope that they do enough in the next two episodes, to at least atone for the absolute massacring of the main story line. I doubt that will happen, as the showrunner seems bound and determined to invest more of his internal politics and views into the show than that of the original creator. There are only 2 more episodes and I can slog through that. But after that I am out for good, and make no mistake about it, many,many are out after that as well. It's funny to me that the ones who like this show are quick to tell us that don't to just move on, without realizing that if we do, then season 2 will be the last you see of it (perhaps a season three because these fools have more money than sense). But don't worry, myself and many others will take your advice and just walk away after the end of this season.
