The Ways looks like the kind of basalt rock formation you find several places on the planet, for instance the Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland, with hexagonal or octagonal volcanic formations. Also, at 00:21 seconds in the trailer/teaser you see a well-known coat of someone, as if he has just stepped out of the waygate, probably accompanied with some whistling.

I always pictured the ways being that narrow but more like long bridges that zig/zag and torches that barely helped. Looks like they got 2/3 of my 'head' cannon. ill take it! So excited to watch!

I think I like the peeks we’ve gotten at the Ways so far. I als ways kind of envisioned them being like my memory of Space Mountain - which is to say, looking/ feeling like you’re hanging in space, pitch black, no idea what’s around or beneath you. That ride TERRIFIED me as a kid 😆

I literally saw the Ways in the books more or less like you did: smooth roads sort of hanging in space that intersected at more or less circular landing points, so from the shots we've seen so far, the columns and sort of labyrinthine structure of the Ways in the show is a very different direction to go. I'm wondering if they went this way to avoid having to make the entire environment CGI, because I could see how that might look really cheap? It might also have been done to keep them from just seeming like they're outside at night due to how dark it's supposed to be? It'll be interesting to see how they explain and play with the Ways in the show :)

My guess is that he is not identified, but he reasons that if he is the DR, his friends are safely behind if he goes alone, and if he isn't the DR, he would die whether he's alone or with the others. So he'll head out to the Eye of the World by himself.

The ways is very similar to what was in my mind, lots of stalagmites and stalagtites just like a natural subterranean cave. I also imagined little islands that float and drop off into darkness based on some of the description in the books. I hope they show that part as it shows normal physics does not always apply in the Ways

Yeah thats defo Mins viewing of Perrin and i think the darkness / swarm in the ways is the Black Wind (Machin Shin). I pictured the Ways having bridges / pathways with smooth dusty surfaces... obviously pitch black with an absolute stillness

I pictured them as decaying roads bridges and islands. Also, I wish they would've spent some CGI budget on getting the effect of how the lights do not penetrate very far in the darkness. I always imagined the darkness was always on the verge of closing in on them. Also with Matt not going to the Eye of the World how the hell are they going to adapt the whole Horn story arc?

My minds look of the Ways is like yours. Didn't look like this. If this represent the nodes in the ways where the paths branch, and the columns are artifacts of the original 'growing', I think I can wrap my head around it. Sort of like crystal growing. Hopefully it won't represent all of the ways. They were described as empty, stark, and pitch dark. Hoping for a good 10 mins in there too.

Each cold open is an introduction to a character or event, so do you think this week's cold open is going to be showing us the Aiel war/intoduction of a certain character. Which would be great, because so far the shortest cold open has been 2.40 minutes and the longest 5.25, so we might just get a GOOD look at the Blood Snow. And you didn't mention that that looks like Padan Fain's feet and cloak.

It's just that most women get severely limited in terms of mobility while pregnant regardless of how physically adept they normally are, and just from these short clips we've seen she doesn't seem to suffer from that whatsoever. But, hey, it looks cool and badass so whatever, maybe they evolved somehow over the last thousand years in the desert! I think the show is going to have some explanation for why the EF5 are all so important, even though only Rand is the DR and fulfilled the prophecies. Maybe the pattern is compensating for putting him through the wringer by reincarnating his wife and children as well?

I have to be honest if these two last episodes doesnt start to engage more people and are more coherent and with better editing this series will be canceled afters season 2 prob after 3 at latest. One or both need to convey the epic episode 4 feel or better or its done I think. The handful of nonbookreaders I got to see this all have stopped watching except one. The overall quality just isnt there. The biggest thing is the timeallocation to things not that important for the immidate story. The like 30 minutes spent on added scenes, not in the books not really adding to the endgame of the season or developing the main characters in any meaningful way. Thats just in episode 5 and 6. My main thing is that they need to make scenes look more natural, everything within the tower felt like in a studio. And not jump around so much, they could have made a MUCH better buildup to the finale and cut stephin for example. More ishydreams, more scenes with Loial (noone I got to watch understans why Loial is there even though they all liked him).

Not called the Black Mist... It's the Black Wind. Hope this gets better. It's been sort of down hill since E4, with a lot of junk added, while removing or changing other more important things... Not sure why they can't seem to make the story coherent like it was in the books. Wish they'd stop screwing it up.
