This show is pure garbage. Amazon absolutely butchered the series, and they don't deserve the rights to it. Pure failure.

I much prefer donal's version of Matt as his personality matches far more to his book counterpart, I just hope that he stops hiding from his friends as this is the only point of his character i just dont vibe with. Perhaps there will be flicker flicker scene which will make him more determined, missing your videos Man will you be doing reviews of this season?

I loved Barney Harris as Matt Cauthon. He was perfect for the part. Its so annoying to change characters in the middle of a program when originally it was so exciting and plodding slong to now what. Booo.

Great video, I agree I can’t choose between them, they both had awesome Mat energy to me, I guess I found Barney sexier somehow but Donal’s mischievous glint when talking to Min has so much potential. Can’t wait to WAFO.

My favorite part of Mat so far this season is that little rock he is holding in many scenes. He rolls it around his fingers like a poker player flipping a poker chip or a dice player rotating dice around. It gives you this vibe into his future in a really subtle way using a prop that doesn't necessarily seem meaningful.

does anyone know if barney is doing alright, its seriously odd that nothing is known about why he left exactly

I’m not a fan of the many (unnecessary, imho) changes the show has made in the WoT lore and characters, but I must say Donal Finn’s portrayal of what the show’s writers have given him has been one of the few bright spots, for me.

Min and Mat's chemistry are like Birgette and Mat

I laughed at Mat's mimicry of Liandrin locking his door. That was the hint of the Mat we will see in the future. Enjoyed the inter- action with Mim, a relationship we know will remain a casual friendship. I'm looking forward to seeing more of both characters this season

Donal is more Matt i think

I like the new Mat and the castings for the new characters we get as well with Elayne, Verin and Elias. For all the complaints I've had about the show, the castings and the quality of the acting has never been one of them. They've done a great job making the characters feel like the characters from the books for the most part.

I thought Barney Harris was good, but Donal Finn is perfect so far!

It is early days but i like the new Mat, he has the humour right.

I've liked Donal so far, and I think he will kill as Mat going forward. If they have the training scene, or any other his luck scenes I think Donal will do the series great

I see season 1 Mat as more sly, and season 2 Mat as more mischievous. Both actors are great, but I think Donal will be a great Mat thru the years.

Actually, I think this is just a scene of these two just meeting. I don't believe that Logain would be Rand's teacher, mainly as he is stilled, unlike Asmodean who was partially shielded. Logain was also self taught, so wouldn't know complicated weaves, that a forsaken would know, nor would he be able to show him any weaves sense he is stilled.

I liked Asmodean in the books, but I can totally see how Logain could replace him as Rand’s Teacher, but I am curious about how Rand would discover the access key for the Chodean Kal.

I loved the new trailer, particularly when Rand is mad at Moraine. Makes me wonder if it's a dream, or if Lanfear is manipulating him.

My fav moment in the trailer is seeing Rand’s cat crossing the courtyard down the corridor. But seriously, I can not wait to see Rand sword fight with High Lord Turak. So many moments that seemed like it’s out of the books. Can not wait!

I think it makes sense for tv to not have 13 Forsaken and Asmodean is one who could easily be cut. Loved the breakdown.

Actually it's a good idea to have Logain be Rand's instructor. Keeps Logain in the show whereas in the books, he disappears at times. And since we don't know long Amazon will committ to WOT, Rafe needs to consolidate and push the story forward as much as possible, epidode by episode.

1. Logain is a bit mad, can't channel. 2. Asmodean is an interesting character in his own right, he stands out from other book characters in being a depressed and introverted Forsaken . 3. The scenes with Rand and Asmodean in TSR are some of the best in the book, and that's some stiff competition. Especially the one where Rand remembers the War of Power . 4. When he races Rand to Rhuidean and they fight over the access key, that will work really well on screen. 5. His arc will fit neatly into a single season (S3) which is great for casting. 6. The dialogue scenes of Rand and Asmodean are ripe for TV - some of the most memorable scenes of GoT fitted that pattern -- Robert and Cersei; Tywin and Arya. I am all but 100% sure he will be in, just from an adaptation standpoint, without even having the figurine confirmation from S1E5

Given how Asmodean's story plays out, I think Logain as teacher would be more...interesting. Thanks for sharing your theories!

I think it's plausible for Logain to be Rand's teacher...especially if and when he is healed later on. They might set that plot in motion earlier than in the books to help speed up Rand's "teaching".

I wouldn't miss Asmodean at all. Everything he does in the books can be accomplished by others. I'd be delighted to see more of Logain (be still my beating heart!) Given that one of Stepin's Forsaken action-figures looked like a man holding a guitar, I reckon Asmodean will be in the show in some form, but merged with Rahvin and Be'lal. I like the idea of Logain teaching Rand-whether before or after being Healed-but Logain may also serve to completely shatter Rand's hopes of getting out of this alive (let alone sane).

Will Ishamael be around in S3? I hope not. I want there to be at least one season before he comes back as Moridin.

I don't like it. Asmodean knows way more about the use of Saidin than Logain ever could. Logain didn't have any teachers himself and we do not know when Logain might be healed from Gentling.

I'm hoping they don't cut Asmodean, and like choccopuddingcup I think he had his own statue in S1, though they weren't all obvious. I'd add that it was really because of his interactions with Lanfear that you truly understood that the Forsaken weren't really united, and would really happilly go against each other if it served their purpose. This would have a Huge impact on the Black Tower potentially. I would like it if Logaine is in charge of the black tower from the jump. Altholugh Mazrim Taim is necessary for the end game he could just be the one that "Learns Too Fast". A forsaken that infiltrates the Black Tower. I highly doubt they go too in depth on the whole Ashaman and Aes Sedai cross-bonding arc. I would love it if Bezos sees the error of his ways and gives them 20 episodes per season the rest of the way thus giving us everything, but these writers have the keys to the asylum. After the Failure that was the rings of power you'd think they learn. WOT still has a chance to be Great. But No, they know better than Robert Jordan.

I'm a bit worried about the Black Tower sub plot. Also, with the way they changed Moraine's speech about setting the dark one free, I think they may cut the dark one altogether and make Ishy the big bad.

I hope they don't cut Asmodean, he's one of my favorite Forsaken. I don't think they will, though, since we very clearly have his statue represented in season 1 along with 7 others (the idols Steppin was doing his little ritual over).
