I casually review and compare the book and the show, noting the impact the differences make to the story and characters. As an editor, this is fascinating to me. As a writer, I am learning a lot.

Consistency, lore accuracy, and faithfulness to character are probably too much to ask for from a showrunner with peak incompetence, arrogance, and a muddled/ill defined message(if there is one).

I feel like there must be a ton of missing footage. So much just feels like it isn't explained or that transitional story moments are missing. I dunno.

@@TheSwordAndThePenREFLECTIONS the generous part of me would like believe likewise, but they haven't earned that for me. I'm sure someone on that production crew who is truly a fan of the subject matter may be pulling their hair out and nashing their teeth in quiet desperation (they have my sympathy 🤣)

Sadly it's not just the showrunner. The so-called book expert they have for the show posted a while back that she felt the primary characters that drove the books were Egwene, Nynaeve, and Moiraine. And the show clearly reflects that opinion.

@@dematar Not surprising. Moraine, I can see to an extent. The other two? Lol, no. It's just real world politics guiding an objectively wrong conclusion. They just don't care about properties they adapt anymore -not that they really ever did much, mind you, but sometimes we were fortunate.

At this point, I've stopped trying to rationalize the WoT show's story. There are so many plotholes, many which seem to be deliberate. Such as Logain, a gentled man, being able to teach Rand anything. Logain shouldn't even be capable of seeing weaves anymore. Or Moiraine, a fully trained Aes Sedai for decades, and yet she can't feel the shield blocking her from the source? (I somewhat get what they were going after on this one. Season 1 had the "Who is the Dragon?" nonsense, so of course Season 2 had to have its own mystery, "Is Moiraine shielded or stilled?". Doesn't make it any less dumb though)

The problem with not explaining what happened to Moiraine is that we aren't shocked when the truth is revealed. You need to make us believe it's the opposite. Then reveal that we were misled.
