I just rewatched both seasons for the first time, at your suggestion. The first time around, as a book reader, I hated the first season and thought the second was much better. On a rewatch, with no expectations, just watching a show, this is a good show. I liked it a lot more than I did the first time. I even liked season 1. I’m excited about season 3, especially since I heard Rafe say somewhere it’s much closer to the books.

I actually had the same reaction...as a book reader I didn't like Season 1 but I did like Season 2 much more and I really want the show to continue. I have now rewatched twice and I like Season 1 now...perhaps I had to get used to what they did. I am really excited for Season 3 and I really, truly hope that they do not cancel the show. I would love to see it through it's completion. I def. find myself rewatching it and I think I always will as long as they finish the show.

I like S2, but I loved S1 when grading it on a curve due to COVID changing everything in the last two episodes. I wonder if COVID had not hit, would we have lost Barney, or was that completely unrelated to the stresses of COVID and lockdowns? 🤷🏻‍♂️

finn do not experience the flow of time as we do. it could be interpreted that the rewatch viewer does the same in that we see season 2 then season 1 again

Well there is a minor character called Jini from a scene in Fires of Heaven that has a chance to show up in this season. This could actually be a pretty juicy confirmation leak if what I'm thinking is right.

I recently got a new KZbin channel in my feed that had some watch parties livestreamed back during WoT S1. (why I got it now is a bit weird as I've been searching KZbin for "WoT Reactions" and similar loads of times after each season to see what non-readers think of the show, but they never appeared then, but anyway...) They had livestreams going where they just did a countdown so people could start the episode at the same time, and every now and then they'd show 3-5s on screen so people knew they were still in sync. I know you've said that you don't enjoy livestreams but that could be a way to do it.

Jon, I don't get why you think that the S3 marketing is better than the S1 marketing. S1's marketing campaign was way bigger. 10s of millions of views on the KZbin trailers, WoT ads on Amazon shipping boxes, big articles in GQ and Entertainment Weekly, Rosamund Pike in The Late Show, a premiere event, free screenings across the US, etc. All of that remains to be seen for S3. Right now the S3 marketing campaign has only consisted of a teaser trailer (with a KZbin ad budget that does appear to be bigger than S2's), and two very belated casting announcements.

Not everyone has read the books. A very large part of my viewership is reading these books for the first time or they have yet to start them. It takes very little effort on my part to be considerate to them. It does reduce views on a number of my videos but I consider that a small price to pay not to ruin the magic that comes with experiencing some of the bigger moments from the series for the first time.

I thought season 1 was pretty good. I didn't really like season 2 as much. Egwene should never have been able to use that adam on Renna much better justice as Ny'neave put it in the book to leave the two sul'dam with adams on their neck so that the rest of the Sean Chan realized that all sul'dam are also channelers. They missed an opportunity. So hopefully season 3 is better. Better pacing, less taking stuff from one character and giving it to another just cause.

Because episodes 1 & 2 were great as well as the source material. I watch the show and judge it on what I am getting; watching an adaptation and judging on what you want the show to be and what is missing is going to leave you unhappy most of the time.

I am a little concerned that because the writing didn't change, they are throwing action at us. Action DOES NOT equal quality. Also, I'm curious how they will do the end. They have not stuck the landing on finales in 1 or 2.
