I’m watching the new season of Virgin River with the wife and just realized that one of the new characters is Callum Kerr. First time I’ve seen him act. He’s going to do well as Galad.

I think many are worried(me aswell) that they will take another Rand moment from him. His fight with ishamael and destroying the trollock army in EOTW.. like if they steal his 1v1 with Asmodean, then thats it Im done. I still love the show but Rand needs these moment i mentioned

I watched s1 but wasn't really hooked. Some episodes were better than others, just like in any other series. When s2 arrived I started watching it, but only a few episodes, still not hooked. I then somewhere read that the series was based on a book series, and I started listening to the books narrated by Rosamund Pike and was totally captivated. Having watched the episodes really helped me as I could put faces on the characters when hearing the story in the books. After listening to the first one, I went back and watched s1 and the full s2 and it was like it was a totally different story. Now I was hooked, no doubt about that. I'm currently listening to Lord of Chaos, which I believe is the sixth book, and I am so looking forward to the third season of the show.

I am both a book and a tv show fan.O f course the show could not be the same with the books.Do you think season 3 will skip the stone of tears and calandor?Anyway i m looking forward for season 3 and i have to point out that there are 2 parts of the story that are depicted better in the show than the books: 1)The story of Liadrin Sedai(incredible job by the actress) 2)The captivity of Egwene al'Vere by the Seanchan and the relationship between Egwene al'Vere and her tormentor Renna.Xelia Mendes-Jones and Madeleine Madden were outstanding in their performances!!!!

So, I thought I saw on social media that they also came back and corrected the older/younger thing, as being another mistake - sounded like Galad is still the oldest.

I have a theory. What with Rand and Gawyn's kind of tragic relationship (Gawyn despising Rand pushes him to make some very rash decisions), could it be that Gawyn in this turning is the halfbrother (revealed later--possibly when Gawyn confronts Rand)? The tension and conflict between them could be heightened as a parallelism of sorts. Just a theory.

Gawyn was certainly a well-drawn character but count me among those who found him too annoying and bull-headed to be truly likeable. He's one of those characters you root for to eventually get it right - but he never does.

Gawyn has the same problem a lot of other characters have, He's not really necessary to the story. He's terribly annoying and quite childish. Not fun to read sometimes.

Really enjoyed this video! Some interesting speculation about possible show directions, too. I would be perfectly happy to have the whole Morgase on the run/Perrin and Shaido plotline completely scrubbed, My favourite bit: "Egwene asks Gawyn to do all these things to be helpful. Gawyn agrees, and does NONE of the things." That made me snicker a lot. :) I like how you pointed out Gawyn - all heart, no plan; Galad - all logic, no empathy or nuance; and Elayne a mix of the two. I had never considered before that RJ may have intended to write the Trakand family in that way deliberately.

Great update. I think Gawyn gets unfair treatment considering how many stupid things the E5, Aviendha, and Elayne do throughout the story. It just didn’t turn out as well for him.

Although Gawyn has never been my favorite character I certainly don’t hate him. For me he’s more of a tragic flawed character who I kept hoping would turn things around but never quite got there. On the other hand I sincerely don’t believe The Last Battle would’ve gone the way it did if he didn’t make the mistakes he did. Primarily because of how his death affected Egwene in that it helped give her the strength to sacrifice herself IMO. In terms of Rahvin I’m wondering if they might replace him with Sammael. Sammael was in a couple of leaked audition scripts and they seem to be decreasing the number of Forsaken down and combining them with others. I wouldn’t be surprised if Rahvin wasn’t in the story at all and that Nuno is actually playing Sammael/Lord Gaebril 😉.

I love Gawyn, he's so very human. He's flawed, judgemental and straightforward, but his sacrifice is so important, and deliberate. He knows what he's doing when he chooses to make that sacrifice, and in a weird way, I think it's a gamble that works, if not the way he intended.

I love all your updates and especially the fact you put up a second video after the intern of chaos turned out to be potentially dyslexic. I love your love of Gawyn, and you've helped me appreciate him more (if possible) even though I find it amusing that a reason to love a character is that they have a flat character arc. :-D I suspect the show will somehow make me have some kind of concern for Gawyn's life, because they're good at it, but we'll see. 😀

What I love about Gawyn is that he was raised to be and with the assumption that HE was THE hero, first prince of the sword. He was supposed to be the chosen one, the nobel hero, and then some ginger sheep herder shows up and it turns out he is the hero and Gawyn isn't. He isn't the main character. He's supposed to serve his sister, he's supposed to serve his aes sedais, he isn't THE hero he is just a player. And for someone else that would be enough, but for Gawyn, who is so young and emotional, he cannot comprehend this... and every bad choice and stubborn refusal to accept what others tell him is tied to this core identity he had in his mind of who he SHOULD be rather than the role he was actually given by life and circumstances.

Lanfear being "the most beautiful woman ever" is heavily implied to be her using compulsion, even only a little, on basically everyone who looks at her. Because she absolutely is that vain. Once Rand learns to harness full control of his powers that sort of description is much less common from his perspective.
