I don’t quite understand how the hubs work, if I want to change the wheels on my motorcycle, I find the right size wheels front and back, then what? There’s sprockets and hubs and other weird shit that confuse me.. can I just use the old hubs? Do I have to buy them separately? Do a new set of wheels come with hubs? I don’t get it honestly and I can’t find any real videos about it, they’re all talking about tires which isn’t that difficult to understand.

Wheels with hubs are made by one manufacturer, like Kawasaki or Marchesini, they are set up for mass sand casting alloys, tires made by other companies like Pirelli or Continental, bearings are precision items, made by bearing manufacturers like FAG or SKF, and sprockets and axles made by other manufacturers again like Kawasaki or JT Sprockets, these items need special heat treatment, surface hardening, etc. A manufacturer then gets everything together, design and cast a swingarm to suit the power of a bike, etc. Hope this helps a bit :)

How can I look up which Wheels fit on my bike for example Kawasaki zx10r rim on a Kawasaki z800?

Most are 17 inch diameter, 5.5 in wide at the rim. But they may be 6 inches wide or some other number. The other problem is fitting the axle`s diameter. You need a bearing that fits the hub AND the axle. Find your actually fitted wheel and bearing sizes kzbin.info/www/bejne/mpTEdGB8js9pjKM (not part numbers) and shop around with those (not bike models and years).

Of course, when you design and build, anything can be done. So pick a cool tire, get a wheel that works with it, build a swingarm to fit that wheel - easy.
