Wheel seal replacement on semi truck. Poor workmanship, still going strong years later.

How to change the wheel seal on your semi! A lot of work for a little seal!
Yes I did update title of this video 2 years later after I uploaded it because people seem to hate on this video soo much but I have had no problems with that wheel seal at all.

Yeah no torque spec o.O? Using a wire wheel on the spindle mating surfaces? Not to mention the other issues with the integrity of the bearings?

Back in the 70s' I didn't take the tires off to do this. Get a steel plate put some grease on it jack the axle just enough to slide the duel's off. saves a lot off work.I worked at GMC Trucks

Hopefully all of those components he installed were “ brand spanking new” because he destroyed the spindle, bearings, hub. Please do not use this method for replacement.

Thought the same when he pulled the seal hitting the bearing from the back 😂, and just wire wheel all the seal journals that have tight tolerances.

The parts were grease and he did add oil, just difficult to see in the video!

Why would you remove the spiral snap ring ?? That’s there to make your job so so so sooo much easier. When you back the spindle nut off it uses the spiral snap ring to pull the hub and seal off the spindle for you … 🤦‍♂️ Why the map gas too??? Why ?? This hole video ?? Why why why ?? You wouldn’t need heat on a spindle nut if you had the proper long breaker bar

I bet you he warped/dented/destroyed the cage on that one bearing , that wheel seal will fail again very soon because of a lot of reasons but I bet that cage being busted will cause that bearing to have play thus shaking the hub and destroying the seal over time

No it didn’t fall off. Its still going strong. I have not had any issues with it.
