A guide to how to use a torque wrench to tighten a wheel with the correct torque. A torque wrench is an essential tool for the do-it-yourself mechanic. It is not particularly expensive and easy to use. Set the torque wrench value by adjusting the handle. In this I have adjusted the tool by looking at the scale, but you can also look at the value on the handle if you want to adjust the tool very precisely. When the click sound is heard, the torque is achieved. Remember to set the tool to zero after use so that the calibration is preserved.
Safety maintenance! When you have changed the wheels, it is important to tighten them again after 2-300 kilometers. And after that I would do it again every 3-6 month just to be as safe as possible. I have heard of people losing their wheels because the mechanic forgot to tighten the wheels properly. As you can see, they can take a little more torque. It is a fast job so it´s better to be as safe as possible. The tightening torque should be between 90-110 nm. Look it up in the Haynes manual or owners manual.
