Tp you it seems maybe slow, but as someone who took almost 2 years to cut out and replace all the rust, you are flying. Another great video

I did the exact same repair on my 1978 Z. For the reinforcement panel I first panel bonded it into place, which is a cross linked epoxy so once it cures oxygen and water will not get behind it. You can also weld or plug weld where the original spot welds were without impacting the epoxy. I used 3M panel weld which worked very well.

Thats not a bad idea! Kinda late for me now but maybe in the future. I'm going to need panel bond for another project on the car anyway...

Seeing as how you said you got the car in October, and that was 5 months ago, I'm beginning to wonder how far along you are in present day. If it ain't to late, get a bore scope, so you can see if there are anymore hidden rust spots lurking. Good thing you followed your gut and did the passenger side... Love the videos. She's moving along.

This video is caught up as of last weekend actually. I was ahead a few videos for a bit but the one before this slowed me down quite a bit. I actually have a bore scope in my Amazon cart, just need to hit the purchase button.

@@BLOKgarage it'll come in handy in more than one way. Go hit buy now. Funny thing is, I don't have one! Love the videos man. Thanks

I did right after. I had just forgotten to go back to it until your comment 😆

Awesome work, I love following this build, I’m about to paint the engine bay of my s13 super white, & 2j swap it as well. Looking forward to the next video!

Is it wortwhile to have a look at the similar reinforcement sections just above the front cross member?
@BLOKgarage6 ай бұрын
Honestly, probably is. I've got a bore scope coming so I'll probably see what that area looks like from the inside and go from there.

Make sure to have the engine bay paint sorted before you put the engine in. You won’t want to do that work multiple times. Having the paint done will mean everything you do is done and not just “mocked up”
@BLOKgarage6 ай бұрын
I fully plan on pulling the engine/trans back out anyway. It's not much work to pull it. I don't want to paint it and then have to modify something is my thought process right now.

@@BLOKgarage look forward to seeing how it works. Are you going black in the engine bay or body color??
@BLOKgarage6 ай бұрын
Black is the plan right now. I like these with a black bay.
@landonmarx47536 ай бұрын
@@BLOKgaragemine has a black bay. I want to clean it up and repeat at some point. I’m trying to get it back on the ground and driving. Then I’m going to do body work similar to what you’ve done, but with a goal to keep it drivable. We’ll see.
@BLOKgarage6 ай бұрын
My goal was to keep it driveable too but then it spiraled 😆

Why didnt you put paint on the car panel that you replaced, you did it on the panel that goes on the top. The way I see it whenever you replace a panel put some paint on the back of the panel to help prevent it rusting from the back.
@BLOKgarage6 ай бұрын
I did just might not have shown it in the video. Every panel I've replaced so far has gotten some sort of coating on the backside and between any layers.
