Adding throttle at the end of the wheelie also helps bring the front end down gently instead of slamming down. Preserve them fork seals. Sweet video. Sweet sounding machine

u covered it perfectly! that's exactly how I learned it.. balance point is right past that oh shit point on my bike. staying on the throttle not only helps with tank slapping but also keeps u from blowing ur fork seals when u get in that 10-12 o clock range. good video man 👌

That's what I love about Florida, riding almost year round. Looks like north Tampa area. In addition to throttling as the front comes down, keep the front wheel straight when landing (handle bars) even with one another, this will prevent massive vibration (tank slapper) from migrating through the bike, if it's bad enough, it'll high side you right off the back.

I’d like to say my 954 has tank slapped on me twice and getting off the gas it came out of it on its own and I’m not a new rider but it has been my only rank slapped experience to this day it’s scary AF

Excellent video and teaching style! I never know how to word it when people ask. I have never done a balance point wheelie. I start out in 2nd, blip the throttle, fan the clutch, when it pulls up, I keep accelerating and shifting through the gears until I'm doing 147mph in a wheelie. When I bring it down, I do exactly what you said and power out of it, but by then my front wheel has stopped spinning and when it makes contact with the street, it puts a 40 foot long skid mark and smoke (like an airplane landing) I am scared to death of "balance point" wheelies though. Lol
@multicamchannel
@multicamchannel 7 жыл бұрын
Does a full tank of gas affect how you do wheelies? I just start doing wheelies last fall and it seems like I need a lot more throttle and clutch to wheelie with a full tank of gas. For me it's a lot easier with 3/4 tank or less. Kinda of pisses me off with a full because I dont feel as consistent.

couldn't agree more. chasing wheelies it's the safest and though in classes they will tell you to roll off the throttle in a tank slapper I have always just ripped the throttle to unweight the front as much as possible and put the bars how I wanted them before letting out. I had a dirtbike that for some reason or another really loved to get into tank slappers and I probably have had a million lol. Maybe only went down once or twice from them though.

Thanks for the tips Im trying to learn to wheelie right now. What speed are you going right before you clutch while in 2nd gear ( I have the same bike). Im doing baby wheelies right now. Also are your arms relaxed when you wheelie? I feel like Im turning the handle bars a little while up, which I know is really bad.
@SALTxTHExWOUND
@SALTxTHExWOUND 7 жыл бұрын
In 2nd gear I believe I'm around 45-50mph when I clutch it up on my 750cc and yes my arms are fairly relaxed but you want to keep a good grip on the bars. the more you practice the better you'll get though :)

Had a few good slappers myself on my c1 zx10r, worst 1 was coming down at 140, feet of the pegs bad and trying to tell my brain to open up and go faster when all you want to do is slow down is scary so a good tip I dab your back brake and let the bike shake as they are designed to self centre anyway.

Is it totally pointless to do wheelies in first gear? It seems like the bike doesn't have enough power in higher gears.
@dylankyle-little7972
@dylankyle-little7972 6 жыл бұрын
Power wheelies in first are good, clutching the wheelie and chasing it out is also good, but what I think he meant is doing a wheelie and achieving balance point in 1st is dangerous because the throttle is too choppy, so it’s likely that if you give it a little too much throttle you’ll come off the back
@chrismoonhomes5863
@chrismoonhomes5863 6 жыл бұрын
Its because of the CC of the Bike. If you have a 300 CC motorcycle tried on that then if you have a friend that has a thousand CC Tri power wheelie read it don't even need to use the clutch the higher the CC the more power that's why everyone starts on a 600 or a 300 because it easier to learn on more powerful bike also have ear will be a lot harder on to do the wheelie Chase if you're just getting used to driving a motorcycle so I hope this helps
@Chevsilverado
@Chevsilverado Жыл бұрын
You can do second gear wheelies consistently on a 125 if you try hard enough. 1st gear wheelies are too choppy to learn on. Second gear at like 25 mph is best because it’ll be smooth and you are less likely to loop the bike.

Hi, IMO.. Tank slappers, the way i found works to get out of a tank slapper is to slam to throttle shut and slam it open, grabbing tank with knees and elbows.. this brings the wieght back off the front wheel, so easy to regain control.. If can afford a newish sports bike, buy a old cheap bike a stunt it and learn off road for hitting balance point.. power wheelies are fine can't get a loopie sticker if don't go passed balance point.. balance point wheelies = Loopie sticks :) (more often than not)

I notice countries either do one or the other. Different styles even.in Australia we like to get to balance point straight away Pop the clutch Get it up quick Tap brake if need be to stop it at balance point or close to it Learn to keep angle as high as possible so you don’t gain too much speed And just coastttttt Speed is what kills When I don’t get the right pop up I don’t usually bother chasing I put it back down and try again But very interesting hearing all the other theories They all work on theory But as you said Chance of looping when getting to balance point Ive once ever got so far 12 o clock (while sitting down though) that I had to lean in and hug my bike and back off throttle,I was sitting at balance point for a good 3 seconds with no throttle until I tapped the brake to bring me down This is why I hate sit downs haha

I remember almost dying on my bike taking someone elses advice on lane splitting and following them then they stoped in front of me and i tryed to stop by using back brakes and bike locked up sending me wobling into the oncoming traffic. Good thing i composed myself and thought okay im not tryna die on a bike and definitely not a beginner 300 so i put both feet back onto the bike and tryed stoping again only this time using both brakes before hitting a car. I must of had angels cause when i look back i rember there being a car like 2 feet away from me hitting it in front of me but when the bike went down and threw me over i dont remember any car being near me when i picked the bike up some how and this all happend in less then 15 seconds. Its crazy cause one minute there was a car in front of me and when i picked the bike up no car in sight in the opposite lane. My only advice to beginner riders is dont listen to anyone and move at your own pace i almost died listening to that idiot that tryed showing me how to lane split we was speeding threw traffic and i told that guy that day who had never seen before meeting him at a red light that i was new to riding and just got my bike out the shop the other day and i was just following along and boom like that in the blink of an eye your life flashes before you.

Technically "balance point" is the point where the bike is coasting in a wheelie not using the gas or brakes at all, if you're on the rear brake you're behind balance point, if you're on the throttle at all your under balance point, I've got a couple vids on my KZbin on dirtbike wheelies (same exact concept as a street bike or ANY bike for that matter, even pedal bikes)

3rd gear wheelie? You must be cranking that throttle? So do you coast at the Rpms that you want and then clutch up? I don't know if that makes sense.
@AprilsVeryOwn25
@AprilsVeryOwn25 7 жыл бұрын
He usually puts his left foot on the passenger peg for 3rd gear wheelies. Doing that puts less weight on the front, which lets the front come up much easier. As far as RPMs go, it really depends how high your wheelie is.

I do stand ups in 3rd gear like the guy above stated with my left foot on the back foot peg, I can even get this bike up in 4th gear. if you ride a 600 or smaller bike I'd stick to 2nd gear, I clutch in at about 5k rpm and coast at about 7-8k rpm

@ABlueElitefromHaloCE
@ABlueElitefromHaloCE 7 жыл бұрын
Clutch up with more throttle. Busa's have a longer wheelbase than other sport bikes and it's lower to the ground, you'll have to give it more power to really get that wheel up there. That doesn't mean crank the shit out of it though. Just gradually apply more throttle when you clutch up. It's the safest and in my opinion the only way to learn. Make mental notes of where you're bringing your RPM's up to when you clutch up so you'll know where the sweet spot is to comfortably pop it up.

Never had it happen but when I did a powerstart I did a wheelie in first gear not meaning too on a ninja 300 ex it was cool I was kinda doing a quarter mile race with a 08 Suzuki Bandit but yeah he didn't shift properly and he went into neutral because he wasnt use to doing quick shifting I called him power shifting but now he's used to it because we went on back roads in the country around 12 in the afternoon till about 5:30 teaching him how to quickly shift on my ninja 300 he was useing my ninja 300 well i was useing my friends Yamaha R1 showing him quick tips before I take him amd a couple friends to my friends place where he has a lot of property and he built a track in his backyard that he uses for his practicing when he's drifting his souped up Mazda RX7 so they had tons of fun there but next year I have my best friend who is my brother i never had he got a 2013 ninja Kawasaki for his first bike because in my opinion compared to the cbr300r and the Yamaha R3 it's the best starter bike because it's clutch friendly and it's great for beginners because you don't really feel all the power until you're in the high RPM range 5000 and 6000 and up that's when you'll really feel it if youre a beginner two motorcycles in the sports bike section another great bike when you learned how to properly drive and handle a 300 you can move up to a 600 for me I prefer the Yamaha R6 because I like the power behind the throttle I don't know I never have to use it I just feel safe knowing that there is power to the bike I don't need so reminds me to be safe but I really enjoy taking the Yamaha R1 out when me and my group of friends go out for a long drive down windy roads they use their Ducati's some with their CBR-RR also my one friend with his custom stunt bike that happends apella and his GSXR

I just 2 days ago bought my 7th sport bike and I've never been able to wheelie, I admit it must be fear because at times in thinking I do enough but obviously if i was it'd be in the air. 3 bikes ago I had a Ducati 999r fila and I couldn't wheelie that, I'm sure people are laughing like crazy, a 1000 cc twin and no wheelie well convinced something was wrong, a fellow rider said let me show u it will wheelie and not jsut wheelie but power up into a stand up, no clutch! Thinking there's no way he got on my bike flipped a U and powered up first try and rode it out in a stand up as far as I could see. Um myth blown and I felt retarded! Well my last bike a built R1 I couldn't wheelie lol my brother in law did 3 standups in a row in front of my house. I'm dying to wheelie! It's killing me! The feeling even on a bicycle is awesome lol wel I just bought my latest machine 2 days ago and am dedicated to learn to wheelie, it's a wheelie machine from all the videos I've seen, a 2017 Yamaha FZ10, a naked retuned cross plane crank R1 with larger rear sprocket and torque from the bottom to top, if I can't wheelie that I have serious problems. Im convinced its truley just fear of wrecking. I can't imagine any other reason? Im going to get familiar with the bike a bit more and then I'm following your vids and doing it! Wish me luck!

Lingenfelter Zee Ohh Six just practice first gear power wheelies.. get a good feel for it. Try on some back road with no one around. May be an embarrassment issue not wanting to mess up around others?

actually i think the best way to learn is on very small and light bikes...once you are good at it then you move up to those fancy expensive bikes. I mean to get rid of the fear of dropping it it's better to have a 500 dollars beater then a 20.000 brand new one. Just my 2 cents

I suggest using a dirtbike to practice going over the balance point. When you do it on an expensive racebike, hit balancepoint, freak out and put your feet on the ground, youre fucked. Practice at slow speeds on a bike that you're fine with crashing.

No, if you’re at balance point you can wheelie for as long as you want without switching gears.

SALTxTHExWOUND yeah. poor BMW. LOVE YA SALT. I recommend getting a finger brake if you're trying to do sit downs at balance point 😂😂😂. I was playing with it for a good block like it's a stunt bike. my fucking toes slipped past the footbrake. i knew exactly then i was fucked. slid like 10 meters on my back and elbow.

Is it not safer to wheelie in 1st gear and go slow, rather than 2nd gear and go 60mph and it all go wrong ?
@Chevsilverado
@Chevsilverado Жыл бұрын
1st gear wheelies are very twitchy and you can easily loop out. Second gear wheelies are smoother and easier to catch at balance point. Also, you don’t need to go 60mph in a second gear wheelie. You can do less than half of that.
