Currently off of work due to Hurricane Irma so time to go ride while it's still nice out! Stay safe out there everyone and I hope the best for everyone who will be effected by this Hurricane or other natural disasters.

SALTxTHExWOUND I do have a question though. How often do you have issues with speed wobble coming out of a wheelie? And how do you recommend correcting it?

The bounce does help a lot. My ninja zx9r could do a 2nd gear wheelie with just throttle plus a bounce, but clutch wheelies sound better.

Another way to accomplish the bounce is to smash the back brake. It will make the front end dip and it also helps you remember to cover the back brake when you bring it up.
@SALTxTHExWOUND7 жыл бұрын
tofaston2wheels I've always heard that but never tried it 👍🏻
@alex-thangnguyen27467 жыл бұрын
Exactly. If you want, power slide the back wheel when it is locked; skid and power up! When you have to clutch lift the front, you need as much bounce as you can get; the back brake is the best way to lower your rpm and quickly bounce it up; I used to keep the wheel locked before I cut loose. It all depends on the clutch springs and the power you are working with. Do not touch the back brakes once it is up; you will slam it down again. ANOTHER TRICK IS TO "FLICK" YOUR CLUTCH while it is up so the front end "bounces" up and down. I think those are the prettiest wheelies. I used to be the wheelie king in the 80s in Virginia; too old now. Another detail people look at is stopping your front wheel when it is up and keeping it locked until you drop or land. How you land is also a detail each rider will have. The back brake is an old trick but it came from the old bikes that could not power up.
@alex-thangnguyen27467 жыл бұрын
btw... the reason why you stop the front wheel with the front brake is because you can turn the wheel side to side without disrupting your balance; it is hard but you are very skilled salt. Again, the hollywood stunt guys were the best wheelie guys and the prettiest; but the pro GP guys had some pretty ones also; but that was in the 1980s. You may be able to find some of their stuff on film.

I'm thinking the opposite, you try pull the bar up,a little bit of up force still helps. Like you do it with a bicycle
@underdogmotomania7 жыл бұрын
can you do one on holding balance point? I can only get about 7 seconds or so, definitely working the back brake.
@StreetBikeTakeoverYT7 жыл бұрын
Underdog FZ 09 If you're only doing them for 7 seconds chances are you're not bringing it up high enough (balance point) and you're chasing rpms. That's what happened when I started. You'll know when you hit balance point because 1, it will scare the shit out of you, 2, your rpms will either stay the same or start to slow down.. and 3 you'll ride them out for a lot longer provided you have a nice steady throttle. I would practice tapping the rear brake and get used to bringing it down but my advice is to only use it when/if you go back too far. Depending on what type of bike you have your bikes engine brake will bring the bike back down by itself anyway when you let off the throttle. Balance point is easy once you get up there, you'll know when you get to balance point it's a very distinct feel. For balance point all you need is confidence, a steadily maintained throttle and lean back a little when you ride them out it will help keep the bike up when your weight is more shifted towards the rear. Keep practicing and stay safe and always wear your gear!
@underdogmotomania7 жыл бұрын
YzfR6 ok cool yes I've tipped it back to that point but always bring it back too far under balance point to get it back. My bike is a 2015 fz09 wheelie monster...lol love it

I don't find it necessary to clutch and bounce - Its one or the other. You can bounce it up quite easily but chopping the throttle just as compress the front and then smack it open right at the peak torque curve for your bike (Hightest torque rise over shortest RPM) - For clutch ups (which I rarely do because I hate beating on the motor and it DOES beat the entire rotating assembly and especially the basket), I just sit back on the seat, slip the clutch about 2000 Revs riight into the same torque curve, also dipping the throttle just a hair before I do to give a full stroke on the forks. Granted I ride an R1 however I've done the same thing with an old ass 99 R6 with stock everything. Its 100% all about the timing. If you are struggling find a small rise/bump in the road to help you along. It will help with the timing and the fork strokes.
