Hey LOTW! Thanks! I decided to build a Race motion simulator during the pandemic.. (to lock me in to keep me moving until it subsides). I have a few videos posted for fun like you. I dig your race car! for sure.. Bit older than you, but I dig it. Thanks for posting !

@@LapoftheWorld Really like the car LOTW! Great Idea. Wish I could go back to the WC and drive Riverside (closed down now) or the biggie "Willow Springs'.. Never went there as as kid, but I would go now for sure. They used to have a lot of drag tracks in CA. Pomona, Bakersfield, Fontana etc. but riverside was the coolest because it was not a drag track but a circuit! A friend of my dad had a Datsun 210 that raced there when i was young . Indelible impression on me.. All I want to do now is drive circuits. Thanks!

Great track review. Love the fact that most of the track facilities are on the inside of the circuit.
@LapoftheWorld4 жыл бұрын
Definitely convenient. The only balance is there's no bridge/tunnel so the entry/exit roads go across the track, not a big deal if you plan your departures wisely.

Real good video, this is the kind of footage I would love to video. That was a quick time and about the corners speed. I need to do some adjustments to my suspension to help with corner speed I hope. We did a tour of Savannah that Sunday because one of my tires corded. Thanks for the shout out.

Cool to see you out there! Makes me want to take our GTI ('13) to a track. It looks like fun. Saw your video about your tire issues. Definite bummer, but there are worse places to spend a day not at the track.

What a track!, looks like you could end up in the pits or in the woods if you skid of the track, 60s safety :) Must take some commitment to be really fast there !
@LapoftheWorld4 жыл бұрын
It has pretty decent runoff most places, though if you get it wrong-enough you can definitely end up somewhere you didn't want to....though that's the case almost anywhere.

@@LapoftheWorld We dont really have those kind of old school circuits over here (in sweden), so its cool to see. Our tracks are fairly old but have been updated with barriers and gravel traps in most places, to be approved for racing purposes.

They have some nice, soft sand traps in the common off areas if you make it that far. You can still wind up in/on the berms and tire walls if you really work at it though. The wrecker crew is quite good and well practiced.

Great informative video which I really enjoyed. The track is very similar to the first part of Suzuka as the straight is about 140mph and the following three S turns are 80mph. Will be there in 3 weeks.
@LapoftheWorld4 жыл бұрын
At Suzuka? Consider me jealous. I guess I can see the resemblance, though my impression is Suzuka mixes some notable elevation change in there.
@waynemillis44184 жыл бұрын
@@LapoftheWorld If you only drive that part of Suzuka it would be very easy to learn. Unfortunately there are 2 more sectors totaling about 6Km and 2 :40 mins for me which hunting in the mid pack with fresh tyres. I have never had a clean lap with always a mistake somewhere.

Great commentary. I have driven the track many times and did not know all the history and inside info, so interesting to hear it. Good description of driving the track but too much of the driving video is mostly the steering wheel. Maybe use a dash/window mounted video and could add a second behind the driver camera if you want to show the driver inputs. This is one of the videos I suggested my student watch before he headed there for his first event.
@LapoftheWorld3 жыл бұрын
Glad you enjoyed it and found it useful for others! I'm still working on getting the 'POV' setup dialed in. It's hard to get a camera to a high enough perspective without obscuring my own vision while driving. I did a second video of 'just laps' from multiple perspectives including a camera on the outside of the windshield that can be found here as a supplemental. kzbin.info/www/bejne/e5_do3SufrqrrNk

I was thoroughly entertained with the history lesson I got while reading up on RRR. The kicker is after all of that, he started a corporation, appointed a friend as the head, donated the track to the corporation and took a massive tax write-off straight to the bank. Can't complain about the results though: a largely self sufficient track that has stayed open for 50+ years and is a blast to drive.
