I have had to replace coils TWICE because of this issue (in my 187K mile '91). The car is now never washed without a plastic garbage bag and several towels packed in the engine compartment during the washing process. Thanks so much for pointing out exactly where the water gets in - very helpful.

Well a year+ on I can definitely still recommend the DDF water guard system. I've washed the car numerous times and occasionally be deliberately sloppy about it just to see and I have had zero further occurences. The foam and adhesive have both survived numerous track days as well.

@@LapoftheWorld Excellent - thanks so much. By the way, my NSX is also Black on Black, with Bronze wheels. :)

I haven't had any misfire problems as of yet, but I did find this video extremely helpful and will likely purchase one of these kits in the near future. So thanks for the upload of this video! You're always insightful and helpful as usual Richard! On a side note, I guess now that the track NSX channel is starting to put out videos again after the winter, I guess it's time for me to get off my rear and start doing the same.😆

At the very least folks can check to make sure their coil cover gaskets are in place and avoid putting water directly into the passenger side of the vent. Also, you live a few degrees of latitude north of me, so your off season is more mother-nature-enforced than mine. 😁

Clymers Carport : no doubt, man - where have you been? I miss your videos. You doing ok? Still working at the body shop? Still waiting on a POV video of you and your son carving canyons in the NSX. God bless you and your family.

Glad you found it useful! We still see this happen to someone about every spring, lol. Consequences are rarely serious but definitely annoying.

Man I missed you & your videos...glad to see you back! Thank you so much for this great video!!!! I bought the timing belt stop because of you too! I tried to use the link to buy this but it takes me to a Facebook page for the company and I don’t do Facebook. I despise social media. How can I buy this kit without going through/joining Facebook? Maybe I’m senile and just couldn’t figure it out.

If you're on the NSXPrime forum, look for user "comtec" :) I don't think he's on there as an official vendor (yet?), but he does post/check.

I am curious about the nature of the misfire others have been experiencing. My NSX will sometimes go into some sort of misfire just coming off of idle, and will keep doing it till you completely let up on it for a few seconds, and let it return to idle. Then it's usually ok, and it will usually not do it again that day. Misfire I experience is severe. Car can hardly get out of its own way, and will continue for as long as you hold the throttle down. I've never done it, but I think it would take the car a thousand feet to get up to 35 mph if you held the throttle down, it's so anemic when this is happening. I wash the car quite a bit. Any ideas? Is this similar to your misfire?

It's not too hard to pull the coil packs, check for corrosion and ohm test them. I'd start there and at least eliminate that. All of the misfires I've experienced with this car have either been a bad O2 sensor, water in the plug wells, or a straight-up bad coil pack. They aren't very prone to failing, but if they get wet with any frequency that could certainly kill one.

thanks for the video, but $50+ for some weatherstrip 🥵

To be fair, I think most of the cost of the kit is the custom-molded silicone plugs for the rear garnish screw wells. You *might* be able to undercut ordering stuff yourself and cutting to length, but duplicating those plugs will make it close enough that, in my opinion, the value proposition is with not having to think about it and just getting a kit ready to install. But hey, YMMV and worst case just don't spray the hose into your window garnish or park your NSX outside in a tropical depression.
