Whelen 4004 Siren test(Air Horn), Bonne Terre, Missouri (St. Francois co. Tornado Siren Test)

On October 24th, 2021, at night, I heard a siren go off in Bloomsdale, MO which is in St. Gen County, MO for around 10 mins. There was a tornado warning for our area. My neighbor says there are no sirens in this county. I am asking if Whelen sirens go off if there's a tornado warning in this area?

Lunar Flare Studios the problem with Collector rings is that the rings get dirty causing popping noises to the drivers. look at the EOWS 408, 612, 816. you see why they are no longer in production.

@@dank980 Whelen tried collector rings with their WS-2000R, and it didn't work so well for reliablity. There's only 1 of them left in service. They decided to go with the direct-wire route, and it's worked far better for them.

American Siren Productions Jeffco does not have a county wide system but I do know that DeSoto test theirs on the 1st Monday of the month. Festus test theirs on a Tuesday but don't know if it's the first or the second Tuesday.

we had 4004s in Gatlinburg TN but they had the rectangle on the side and the fiber glas was a lot closer and they got damaged in the Gatlinburg fires so they installed new federal signals modulator 5020's

nope it's a 4004. The Vortex has a rectangular rotator box, and the 4004 has a square rotator box. plus only the 4004 can do voice I belive.

Compared to most mechanical sirens that use slip rings to transfer power to the rotating portion, these simply have wires running up to them which twist so it has to go back and forth.
