You know, as a single working man in his 40s, what strikes me the most is that he had a family, a wife, and children who probably loved him. And he just killed them, like that. I really like how the detective uses little comments like him "not knowing anything about technology" it feels like he is trying to build the suspects ego while making himself look dumb to give the suspect confidence and make him think he can outsmart him if he can say the right things. But the whole time the detective is just getting what he needs. Definitely one of the best interrogators I've seen on KZbin

This is common in Reid interviews where if the investigator knows that the suspect’s profile involves narcissism or just an inflated sense of their own intelligence it’s often helpful to build rapport using ego boosting language to get them to open up and start talking about how smart they are (and begin slipping up)

The KZbinr makes several readily apparent errors, thus, given what detectives say to him at one point, I am unclear whether Missile Mike really did confess to murdering his family, or simply to fatalistic thinking over the 911 call. It seems plausible that he committed the crime with the intention of offing himself and couldn't follow through on it. Or that he had no intention of ever hurting himself but the crime was spontaneous, so reverse "engineering" a believable excuse wasn't ever in the cards. Not to suggest he was smart enough to get away with it otherwise, but it is a comical level of incompetence given his education, if he either concocted a "plan" within minutes of his first fatality, or spent months or even years thinking about how "no one will suspect a thing."

@howardstark9 ай бұрын
@DevouringKing I think you may be looking too deeply into it, honestly, and it's not really your fault. The narrator makes it sound like Michael's reaction of "I would never [commit murder of my family]" as the ultimate reason for him finally being arrested, when Michael's whole performance (how he's speaking, how he's claiming he can't remember his day, the over-exaggerated reaction when he was told his daughter was deceased) during the interrogation was more damning than this one phrase alone. This is also ignoring all of the other evidence that was already being collected. I feel that the narrator was just adding some extra "flavor" in order to complete the story by saying it was "the nail in the coffin" and it's just to sensationalize it a bit more. Hope that helps! 😎👍🏻

I'm an ER doctor. You might be surprised at how often paramedics or other medical professionals either think someone is dead when they aren't or don't notice that the patient died / stopped breathing while standing right next to them. There are various errors that contribute to this, but the two most common is a phenomena known as "anchoring bias" and "confirmation bias". Anchoring bias is a tendency to rely heavily on the first piece of information you hear. Confirmation bias is the tendency to see new information as consistent with and supportive of what you already believe to be true. It works like this. Someone is severely injured or is near death from a medical condition. A bystander calls 911 and says "I found a dead body" or "there was a motorcycle accident... ughhh... this guy is dead." The information is relayed to emergency services, who then expect to see a dead person. When they arrive, they look at the victim. Maybe he is covered in blood or has grievous injuries or appears not to be breathing. There might be some subtle signs that the victim is not dead, but these are overlooked (if he is dead, why is he still bleeding) or discounted (did I just feel a very weak pulse there? No, I think that was just my own pulse). It is very important to follow your usual procedures and to make your own independent assessments every single time. Have you ever noticed that when at doctor's office or ER, you get asked the same questions 4 times by 4 different people? Many patients see this as a sign of disorganization and get frustrated by it. The fact of the matter is that I do know what the secretary / nurse / referring physician says is going on, but I'm asking you anyway for a specific reason. Oh, and wear a seatbelt / helmet!

I’ve been seriously ill in hospital 5 times. I’m not sure if it’s the same with all patients but even before losing consciousness I’d get really pissed off with the incessant repeated questions and them constantly saying my name loudly. The first time it was my first episode of major blood loss and even though obviously you feel nothing but pain and sheer panic I remember trying to say “that was cool” when the female doctor used stat. I thought they just said it on tv 😂

And patients lie, no idea why but they lie all the time. Stories change drastically by the time I get to a patient. I love watching the residents’ faces when the patient give me a completely different story than they gave the resident. It really makes my day because they get so mad. 😂
@shawnstatzer95 Жыл бұрын
A preconceived ideology is often formulated via information (regardless of validating that information or misinformation). How an individual accepts something as fact without validation can be from a number of factors. People, in general, often rationalize (perhaps what he or she wants to believe), which greatly influences the decision making. And belief is to hope for something that is just not known, whether or not it is appropriate. With the medical team being told one thing, it seems that he or she in the medical field has already subconsciously instilled a thought within them all that can affect them as a whole (conceptual Perspective-talking). The psychology of the brain and behavior is fascinating.

i'm a physicist and IQ is one of the most misunderstood tests, IQ does not define your inteligence as whole. An IQ test only tests a few abilities of the brain and it's agility, it is a very outdated and superficial test, I am a professor in particle physics and I am in charge of a laboratory at UNAM, to enter MENSA they made me a very minuscule IQ test, I had a result of 147 IQ points, which makes me quite close to Einstein, thanks to this I understood how ambiguous and misunderstood this test is, in Indeed, IQ does not define your intelligence in it's entirety, but a small part of it, Einstein was an absolute genius, and unlike scientists and engineers like Tesla, Hawking, Oppenheimer, Meitner, etc... Einstein is not overrated, and His genius, his true intellect, his absolute and misunderstood capacity for abstraction will possibly never be equaled by any human in the history. If his intelligence were measurable, a simple IQ test would not define even 5%. of his intellectual capacity.
