Dark Knight Returns Batman was DIFFERENT bro. When he started his career, like Year 1/Year 2, he was really aggressive and angry. Then as time passed and he started working with the Justice League, he kind of mellowed with age. But in his mind after he retired and came back it was like he was becoming Batman for the first time again. All that anger and aggression came flooding back. The city was overrun with crime and gangs ran the streets. People didn’t think he existed anymore so he had that “urban legend” element back. Not to mention that he was old and not as spry as he used to be, so he would often have to use brute force in situations where he used to use more finesse. It quite literally was a reawakening for Bruce Wayne/Batman. He’s too old for this shit but he’s doing it because nobody else will. I absolutely love this comic and its movie adaptation. Frank Miller’s a genius.
