For all the insanity 10 cent beer night caused, it's a bizarrely good testament to sportsmanship and cooperation. In spite of their rivalry and trash talk, when the indians saw the rangers were in serious trouble, they stood against a mob of hundreds/thousands of drunk, violent lunatics to try and keep them from getting seriously hurt or worse.

Someone hasn’t heard of Philadelphia sports. Whenever they’re in a championship series for baseball or (American) football, the city unironically has to grease every telephone pole/lightpost downtown to prevent people from climbing them, and police horses getting punched is a regular thing. There’s also Chicago and the Steve Bartman saga, in the 2003 playoffs poor Steve caught a foul ball instead of a cubs player, causing the cubs to lose their closest chance at a World Series win in 95 years (a losing streak that would last from 1908-2016). Well the entire stadium fucking rioted, pelting the cops with beer. The next day, the news unironically doxxed him and his parents’ home addresses. The dude had to flee to florida because of the threats he was receiving.

If getting whacked by players with bats, who probably were holding back a bit, wasn’t painful enough, just imagine what it was like when the 1970s era swat team showed up with their big hittin sticks. I don’t believe they would’ve been holding back much at all after the display the fans put on. If I get put on riot duty, I have significant restrictions on how/where I can whack somebody with the long baton. I do not believe any such restrictions were enforced in the ‘70s.

I won’t lie, before I clicked the video, I thought it was going to be on the Senators-Yankees game where Sens fans rushed the field in protest of Bob Short moving the team in 1971. The game was called, with the Senators winning.

That was a great video. I just want to note that at 12:15, you show an image of first base as you say "Rusty Torres is staring down the barrel of a potential win..." It doesn't really make sense to show an image of first base here, since you don't score a run by reaching first, you score a run by reaching home plate, which is the pentagon shaped base. Really liked the video though, the editing was great

Here in Cleveland, we love the tale of this massive mistake of a ball game so much. We literally made shirts out of it. At this rate, I wouldn't be surprised if they brought the idea back. Much like Sony bringing Morbius back into theaters dud to the memes.
