6 years after his death, he was also immortalized in a Sabaton song. Also, the crew of the Pub today have 25 descendants. At the first B-17 crew reunion, Stigler was invited. He told Brown that he didn't feel like he should be there since he had been fighting on the other side. One of the Pub crew's descendants outright told him that none of them would even exist if not for his actions, so he belonged there just as much as anyone. He knew he would have to live with the actions he took that day. So he chose to follow his conscience rather than his orders. I imagine that made his later life a lot easier. He lived to the age of 92.

it was because of this that I started to understand more deeper and emotionally that not of us who fought in the war were bad guys and that goes double for the Germans. Again this story with Sabaton "no bullets fly" is what made me understand that not all were villains.

In the show Galipoli, there is a scene where the Turks and the Australians agree to a cease fire to clear no man's land of bodies. Two officers meet from opposing sides and share a brief broken English conversation. The Turk points to the looming British Naval fleet in the bay, "That is politics." Then points to the work being done of respecting their dead, regardless of nation, the Turk says "This is diplomacy." Another fantastic video. Thank you Yarnhub.

I purchased this book and enjoyed every word of it. After finishing the book, I lent it to my grandmother who was a child during the war. Her father didn't fight on the front lines, as his commanding officers didn't want a father of five to risk his life directly, but he was a great mechanic, so he worked in the shipyards in California.
