A wise man once said, what's worse than killing a man? Breaking his pockets. Making sure he has no money to live. Getting some one fired is down right low of low.
@idontwanttopickone3 жыл бұрын
And you'd rather they drag down the whole business and make you all unemployed? If your coworker doesn't listen to your advice and keeps making the same mistakes. Then yeah you should quietly mention it to your manager. To the guy you reported you look like an A-hole who's trying to get them fired, but in reality you are protecting the business from shoddy workmanship and bad customer reviews. It's not your job to protect people who don't listen to advice and don't try to improve themselves, let someone who's paid to make those decisions make them before you all loose your jobs over one bad apple.

Just cuz u been there the longest you can do whatever you want?! Sign me up!!!

Maybe you just off to a bad start and need to restart on a better footing. Or maybe he's just noticed bad habits that you've got into over your time working there (it's pretty common in all jobs) and wants to know if that is the correct way to do it, which is getting you in trouble by accident. You should probably just talk to them politely and calmly. Let them know that you want to work well together/be friends and make it clear to them that they can talk to you and ask you questions about the job. If you make yourself appear nice and approachable, then you are much more likely to hear problems/questions from their mouth rather than via your manager. And when they point out something or ask you something, try to take it in a positive way and respond in a way that'll mean they feel like they can be open with you in the future. So many people get mad at criticism, especially from someone they see as junior to them (like a newer member of staff), that they often put up a wall to hearing further criticism, which stops improvements being made. If we don't take on criticism and improve ourselves, we stagnate and that's how businesses go under. I hope you both find a way to work more positively together going forward.

I remember I got the “I would like to speak to a manager” from someone at Home Depot during the time we allowed customers back inside the building. We have rules that anyone entering the store, except employees and people looking at cull lumber that is sitting outside, have to enter the main entrance doors to keep count. An Asian gentleman was trying to enter the doors that had two big exit only signs so I told him to go around the store and there was no fuss. Then some other customers asked to see the cull lumber and come back inside. I say yes and everything is fine. 12 minutes later the same Asian guy talked to a cashier and pointed at me so I got confused. When I asked the cashier what that was about she said he wanted to talk to a manager and complain about how I purposely made him walk back and let others in. Seeing the misunderstanding I went and tried to explain the situation however for some reason this guy now had one goal in life that was to ignore whatever I say as a “excuse” and talk to a manager that I was doing my job. Very fun times :)
@tdmc64282 жыл бұрын
So long as you are absolutely in the right then the moment they ignore you then you just drop it, if you get punished then it’s wrongful and you go around you boss, if your manager isn’t an idiot then nothing happens and you get a fun story

So I think if he had been terrible at his job and a co-worker pointed it out, his parents would have told him to find another business. A business can't support dead weight forever. Despite working in hospitality since I was 19 (am 30 now), I've never once had anyone try to get me fired for any reason. 85% of the people I've worked with have been amazing to be around; we'll goof off and make jokes during down time, show each other stupid youtube videos, and make our own creations in the kitchen. One time, at my first job, there was an, decrepit, drug-addled old man who'd be in his early to mid seventies at this point. I caught him doing lines of meth in the back store room, I told the boss and he just looked me up and down and said: "You should've asked him where mine was." So yeah, that's the kind of place I worked in. I left two weeks later for unrelated reasons.

Workplace bullying is something I have experienced at every place that I've ever worked at. It's always the same - 99% of the employees are great people, friendly, hard-working, and easy to get along with. But there's always that one out of a hundred who's a bully. The bully doesn't like to see a quiet and meek new employee come in and almost immediately become successful by working very hard. So the bully will then aggressively advocate for the firing of the one person who's gaining popularity simply by working harder. My experience is that the bully always wins, and the hard-working person always gets fired. It's not like on TV where someone swoops in at the last minute and rescues hard-working and sincere employees who are being targeted by a bully.
