Chevalier Fabien des Grieux (Barrymore) has renounced worldly pleasures to join the church. However, his life takes a dramatic turn when he falls deeply in love with a young woman he meets on her way to a convent.
TRIVIA: John Barrymore met and fell in love with Dolores Costello while working together on The Sea Beast (1926.) Their on-screen chemistry translated into a real-life romance, and they were married on November 24, 1928.
