Austin did a fabulous job of this classic song. Loved Percy Sledge's version, but this was taken to another level. I think it is also better than Michael Bolton's version. And remember this was done during quarantine, so the guys weren't even together. The backing harmonies are great, along with Tim's bass. And Adam's vocal percussion is outstanding. This is why these guys are my favorite a cappella group.

Percy Sledge was pretty darned awesome. Michael Bolton sounded like this was a lot harder on his voice, whereas Austin Brown's performance seemed almost effortless. Yes, he was working hard, but this was well in his range.

Rob has a BA in vocal performance, Tim started singing in high school and has continued to write songs and perform throughout his adult life. Hello mother and stepfather! Nice to "meet"you..😄 Yes, Austin nailed it. He gives himself completely here and also plays very well with the cameras. The great harmonies, deep bass and the unbelievably freaking good beatboxing/vocal percussion/vocal sounds finish it all off for me. I think it sounds perfect because of all the different beautiful voices. I grew up performing Percy Sledge which I already loved. Then came Michael Bolton's performance where I couldn't say for sure if it was better or not. But this one from Home Free certainly is.

#MOM and #STAN... We will make HOMEFRIES out of them, yet! I have been following them for 20 years and they only get better! Percy Sledge sang it first and then Michael Bolton sang it a little later! But, nobody can sing it like HOMEFREE!!! They are SPECTACULAR! THIS SONG is Sheer perfection! They actually do not have a lead singer; whatever the song calls for, is who sings lead! They all have sung lead at some point!!! I actually am extremely fond of TIM FOUST!!! He has a 5 ovtave range and can go from deep bass to tenor in a flash!!! He also has written many of their songs! I really love this song! Thank you for such a glowing reaction!!!

The Jew's Harp from Man of Constant Sorrow is done by Adam Chance, usually just called Chance. Adam Rupp does the harmonica sound. There is always some production in the background. This song for example was done during covid and they are all in different locations. They don't use auto tune, so the production is usually just layering. Adam can't play harmonica and drums at the same time. Austin was singing this to his girlfriend who was sitting in a chair just off camera. You need to check out their gospel side, maybe Go Rest High on That Mountain or How Great Thou Art.

Your parents are so cool. Yes, Austin is amazing and so is Adam. I think they call it circular breathing? He inhales and exhales while doing the sounds…just don’t ask me how? Adam has been in the group (he and his brother founded it) 22 years so a long time practicing. Austin has had formal training. Tim (the bass) used to be a tenor and then his voice dropped so he kept singing in the tenor range and says it helped his lower range. Yeah he has a 5 octave range which is crazy. They’re all so good. And yes, both Pentatonix and Home Free sing Mary Did You Know. Great reaction Matt and parents! Love Home Free! And Tim and Austin write songs that Home Free sings too. Try the Dive Bar Saints album. 😀🥰

Hi Mom and Stan. Adam started to learn to beat box in college and he learned the drums enough to help with his beat boxing. When he draws a breath he's actually making a sound at the same time. I've watched him enough to finally recognize the sound when I hear it. All of the guys except Adam have had vocal training. It's one of the reasons Adam isn't comfortable singing lead on songs where there's no beat boxing but he's got a beautiful voice. I've actually heard that noise before and can see the instrument in my mind from when I was in school but I don't know the name of it. He's even taught some of the other guys beat boxing sounds. Austin was actually singing to his girlfriend Amberly who was standing next to the camera man. Adam Rupp is PHENOMENAL!!! Other beat boxers will tell you that he makes the most realistic instrumental sounds in the business. This was done during the pandemic so they were actually in 5 different locations in 3 different states. Great reaction!!!

Adam majored in music in college (trumpet performance 🎶) so his ability to do circular breathing and triple-tongue is a huge help when it comes to his vocal percussion. 😉👍 He's got great rhythm, too, based on his dancing skills (!) and playing bass guitar & drums. 🥁🎸🎺 He & Chris formed HF when they were in college in 2000. Pretty much a flip of a coin decided which one would sing and who would beatbox. Lol From there, Adam taught himself to beatbox using DVDs!! 😳 After that, it was just a matter of repeating a sound 1,000s of times 'til he perfected it! After that, he learned to play real drums so he could accurately reproduce the movements during his performances. Sheesh Talk about dedication to your craft! He never fails to amaze me, even after all these years. ❤ This is one of their many quarantine videos, by the way. The guys were all in their respective homes. Austin and his girlfriend, Amberly, were the only ones in the studio. Home Free is #1 in my book, a capella or not! 😍

Hi Mom and Stan! Great to see more Home Fries!! LOL Adam didn't start beatboxing until the group was formed 20 years ago. So basically, if it wasn't for his brother's crazy idea to start an acapella group when they were in college, he may have never learned to do it. And believe it or not, he first learned from a dvd! All the guys have some kind of music training. Adam primarily in instruments (trumpet, drums and bass guitar) but the others all studied music in college. As for the convincing looks, Austin's lovely lady was behind the camera when he was singing so he was singing it for her. That and Austin is a camera flirt! LOL

Thanks for the introductions, and welcome! The original, by Percy SLEDGE 😉🤣 is classic, and Home Free definitely did it justice. As for Austin, he had his wife in the room, and he was singing to her... hence the emotional content.

Chris Rupp started the group when he and Adam were in college. Tim sang in junior high and high school. Austin's dad was in a Gospel Quartet and been singing since he was little Adam taught himself how to beatbox for the group back in 2000. Adam Chance went to school for creative writing I believe. I don't know anything for sure other then he was in other groups before Home Free. The mouth harp was actually done by Chance not Adam Rupp. Truly enjoyed watching your reactions to these guys.

Love the reaction and enthusiasm ! #HiMom #HiStan Austin just owned this song ! You should see the reaction to this song on the channel 'Jamee Jams' - right after the first vers, she says "If you you could make a baby with just a voice ..." - you are right - Austin is taking all the women.

It's a signed one I got when I saw them in November last year! I got it from a subscriber that was at the same show with a VIP pass! She has several of them, so she gave me a whole goody bag! If you look really close at the frame to the other room behind us, we have their set list from that show pinned up too!
