Parents unwittingly torment their children all the time. If a parent forces a small child to eat foods that they don't like, it teaches the child to fear those types of foods and view them as a form of punishment. If junk food is treated like a reward and put on a pedestal, the child develops an unhealthy feeling of gratification when eating those types of foods. The end result is usually an adult who hates healthy foods and is addicted to junk food.
@dOlli3cOutur33 күн бұрын

Most? A lot goes on behind closed doors. I was punished for not eating food, again and again, until my was plate was empty. Forced to eat food I hated as amusement, because it was really a power trip in the end. The same routine for years. Lifelong food issues now. Encouragement is great, but taking away a child's autonomy isn't the answer.

so many interesting experiments that i wish weren't harmful to anyone. like, what happens if you toss a human into a black hole? if you really do it then you're just making someone suffer so its like, you have to use a dummy or computer predictions n such like that and its never the same. i also feel though that with some experiments, if the subject doesn't feel the pain then the experiment might not work. then you have the experiments that depend on the subjects not knowing its an experiment at all which can be ethically fugged up, depending on the experiment as a whole.

I think that the poor ethics involved in this experiment have been overblown. Parents have done much worse things to their offspring for much less useful reasons. Personally, I inflict a deliberate phobia of snakes into my working dogs when they're young using a similar but less invasive method, and this experiment proved the concept long before I was able to make use of it. It keeps my dogs safe to avoid the smell, sight and sounds of copperheads and cottonmouths (which are frequently encountered in my area) when working in the field, and it is the only time I will ever use aversive techniques in their training. It is obvious in behavior modification now how trauma can change behavior, but it wasn't obvious at that point.
@Me-qp8vz2 күн бұрын
and religions if they believed the child was possessed by the devil. Ever read about that fourteen-day ritual on a child that was dead after the 3rd day they still kept going despite the smell. they had to remove the devil in case it brought the child back to life... After being dead for 11 days they thought the devil was finally gone. All the time mum and dad agreed to the whole thing and watched it unfold in their child's bedroom. The exorcist was based on it. KZbin won't let me link the story you will have to search it. Yes, religious people who believe in god are worse than the devil they hate... WH did a video about it but watered it down so much it wasn't worth watching.
