"When a Pilot Took Down a Submarine to Honor a Fallen Friend"
On December 7, 1941, Lieutenant Clarence Dickinson and his wingman are ordered to fly their Dauntless dive bombers from the USS Enterprise to Pearl Harbor. As they approach, they unknowingly fly directly into the midst of the devastating surprise attack by the Japanese Imperial Navy. In the chaos of dogfights with Zeros, Dickinson watches his friend McCarthy's plane go down in flames, leaving him with the harsh reality of war. After being shot down himself, Dickinson survives and continues his fight, eventually taking part in a revenge mission against a Japanese submarine. Despite the heavy losses, the mission culminates in the sinking of the I-70, marking a significant retaliation in the war.
