The Destroyer that was hit by the crashing torpedo bomber the USS Smith, managed to put the fire out when her skipper had the helmsman steer her into the massive wake of the Battleship South Dakota extinguishing the flames and saving the ship. It is the same! She seeks revenge against us all! Mark my words. By the time she had reached our shores… there won’t be a navy, not even much of an Air Force left”. “Just tall tales. No ship has that kind of a grudge”. “That is no ship private! That, is wrath. We decimated her home, sunk her sister ships. How would you feel if you’d lost everything and were the last one left?! 6:39 Mistranslation of Japanese for fighter: "Senshi" (戦士) means fighter, but as in a "warrior" kind of way. The correct word would be "sentouki" (戦闘機). More translations for future reference: Dive bombers would be called "bakugekiki" (爆撃機) and torpedo bombers would be called "kougekiki" (攻撃機). Army bombers on the other hand would be called "rikujoukougekiki" (陸上攻撃機), often shortened to "rik-kou" (陸攻) Zeroes specifically would be called "reisen" (零戦), while the rest would be called "____ type" for short and US planes were called by US nicknames (Corsair, Avenger, etc) Despite the mistakes, your channel has some of the best Japanese translations and voices than most channels here.

He considered even trying to take out the Japanese bomber by sheering the tail off because he was out of bullets... instead the bomber took a nosedive and hit the USS Smith ,a Destroyer Escort, that was screening the USS Enterprise on that day... Why not do a video about the Battle of Leyte Gulf, well one of the many Battles that took place during this huge Battle... The big miracle for USS Enterprise during the Battle of Santa Cruz was the Enterprise entered a storm sprawl right before the main force of enemy bombers arrived, so a vast majority of that attack wave went right after USS Hornet. Even still once Enterprise exited the rain squall, she came under attack and both the Grim Reapers and Enterprise’s Strike Group did a damn good job with AA Fire. But Enterprise would suffer three bomb hits, the biggest one being the bomb hit on the forward flight elevator that knocked it out of action. Had it not been for the aforementioned above, Enterprise could have probably fared worse, but then again, she was not called “The Lucky E” for no reason.

Many Japanese committed atrocities (sure, prob more so in the army but still). I can't respect someone who fights for tyrannny & genocide (Japan in China, Rape of Nanjing; Germans in WWII; Rusians now; Israelis bombing civillians just for the political survival of one man...). If more people said 'no', we wouldn't have these damned wars, but they don't, people aren't socially brave generally, so I won't respect them for just going along with the propeganda. Its not that all the Japanese were evil but its disingenuious to suggest there's any moral comparison between the Allies in WWII and the Axis.

I like to call it the F4F Mildcat because of how -whelming its performance is. The Hellcat and Bearcat are so good. And Corsair if you can forgive it's quirks.

Here's a thought from left field.. the valour of the men who sailed on, flew from, or defended the Enterprise, wrote its name into a History that inspired the greatest science fiction Ship of all time, inspiring millions of kids and adults. Kirk's enterprise owes it's fame to the brave souls who fought so hard aboard, above and for her namesake.
