I felt so bad for Hector. He was doomed the moment his brother made an enemy of the King who commands the greatest fighter on earth.

They made pact with King of Sparta, not the King of Greece. Menelaus will attack Troy one way or another. Look what he said to King of Sparta "We didn't come here for your pretty wife". Paris stole someone's wife only become a quick reason for Menelaus to attack Troy, Hector will fight in the war anyway. He was doomed when he killed Achilles' cousin.
