OMG!!! I showed this to my dad and it brought happy tears to his eyes! He worked for The D&H as a brakeman/conductor. He remembers these, The PA's and the Sharknoses very fondly.

I grew up in Cohoes and lived across from the yard. I used to be able to see the signal and siding for MP 8.1 from my window and I watched these trains every day. I wish I had taken photos 😢

Grew up in the Green Ridge section of Scranton Pa near the D&H yard . Spent hours watching the crews switch cars around with RS3s . They were beautiful!

Oh do I remember that sound from summers at my grandparents who lived near the Western Maryland Thomas Sub. RS 3'S were the engines most used. Thanks love the sound and pictures.

They look really good in D&H's paint scheme. They also sound really good too with those 244 engines, thanks for uploading this.

Jay.. I sub a lot of channels..I watch a lot of videos.. and this particular one ranks as one of my all time favorites. I just love the RS units..and the sound throughout this video is just awesome..I just like that "rattle" that these engines make...I'll watch this one over and over as time goes by.. thank you for all in this series. My favorite diesel, grew up watching the 8300 series on the NYC around Rochester NY. The bad rap the 244 16 cylinder engine got didn’t seem to apply as much to the 12 cylinder model which powered the RS3’s.

ALCo loved steam locomotives so much that they had to make their diesels smoke like them too

Some of the Roads that had Alcos had bad luck with the 244's .From what i've read most of these roads did not maintain the 244's properly. The New Haven did very well with all their Alcos as did other roads who knew "How" to get the best from the locos.I like the sound of the 244's the best.

I have checked and the sound that accompanies the slide show is working perfectly.. Also after over 1700 views no one else has commented on the sound being missing. Sorry but the disconnect must be on your end.. Check the on/off and volume control on the video screen toolbar..
