I am Dutch living in Switzerland. On vacation in China, I had moderate success saying I am from Hélán, and ZERO success saying I live in Ruìshì.

"I don't think that's a word." 🤨"It is a word" 😅 ooh girl love the confidence! This is an awesome video. Learning another language isn't easy and making it fun and comfortable to keep trying is amazing for everyone!

So funny. "If I can get all 15 that would be good" ...struggles to get first one! Thankfully CONTEXT plays a role in speaking.

I got "email" right away...she was off by giving it the zhi versus zi I think. This is very relatable content. I really enjoy. The reason is this is my same experience currently - some of what I say is understood, but the native speakers are usually like wtf???

Jules is very good at getting the meaning in this video. As someone who learned Chinese as an adult, often I can understand beginner Chinese learners better than native speakers do, especially when the tones aren't right

I don't mean this in a negative way, but this makes me feel more confident in my own speaking skills. I always feel like I suck more than anyone else, lol. It's nice to see others struggle.

Chinese people watch the mouth amongst each other - happens in all languages. But I also understand not doing it when teaching and learning at lower levels. Perhaps most useful at mid-level, intermediate?

Why are you displaying the Pinyin text like Jyutping text? On paper you’re displaying correct for Mandarin but the typed display shows like Cantonese. It’s throwing me off. I’m learning Mandarin. Never seen anyone type it with numbers, always with tones (accent characters). Nice video. Thanks. PS. New to your channel.

We had this problem before, with people preferring the accent marks for pinyin. I also prefer accent marks. However, I’m using Premiere Pro to edit, and I can’t type accent marks in the software. When it’s an important word or if there’s limited text, I’ll type out the words in Google Translate and copy the pinyin with accents into Premiere Pro, but with a video like this that has hundreds of pinyin to display, it would slow down my video editing by at least 5-10% 😔 Maybe one day I can get an alternative method!
