I remember Jim Carrey taking so much heat when he made Eternal Sunshine. But it’s become a cult classic. And he’s become an icon.

I remember going into the film blind and was a bit disappointed at first with how serious he was in it. But Eternal Sunshine ended up being my favourite film of his haha

I would honestly have loved to see Jim Carrey's career go into a more arthouse/indie film direction, I think he absolutely shines in projects like that. But If he's happy doing what he does now, that's what matters the most.

Eternal Sunshine is not only Jim's best movie, it's one of the best movies of all time.

I was 8 in 1994 and I loved everything he was in, so Carrey was a huge part of my childhood. I can rewatch his stuff, comedy or otherwise, until I drop dead. Also, I saw you sneak 2 Luis Guzmans in there 🌝🤳🏻

Jim Carrey should be getting his own biopic, portrayed by Adam Sandler.

I know its not mentioned, but I believe a lot of what Jim Carrey struggled with when it came to Hollywood and his ups and down in acting is due to his ADHD. I know from experience, it causes emotional roller coasters and the splintering of your personality. He very clearly dealt with hyperfixation for Man on the Moon, and more than likely was burnt out from acting throughout his career. I've always looked up to him as an actor with ADHD since he seemed to have so much success despite the disorder, what I cannot achieve, but I know now he's flawed, too. And that's wonderful! ADHD is not a silly brain quirk, it can ruin your life. When he described feeling so depressed and meaningless, I've felt that, I understood.

Carey tryed do model his career after Tom Hanks, but the industry didn't embrace him the same way they did with Tom. Shame, because they both are incredible actors.

Someone had shared a video on him late last year and something to note is that he was considered the highest paid actor in Hollywood, I believe in the early 2000s. And yes, he did get typecast because he was so well known for comedy, but he also did have a lot of opportunities so his frustration over the roles is kind of ridiculous being that he was being paid really well.
@Gino5656 күн бұрын
I think it’s fine to be frustrated with the roles you’re receiving, regardless of how much you’re paid. If you don’t feel fulfilled by what you’re doing then what’s the problem? Actors/musicians etc don’t always judge their work by the monetary value it provides.

He's a much bigger star than Hugh Laurie
@DerpRulesAll7 күн бұрын
@theitfactorjameswheezer2852 I'm referring to making a transition from the purely comedic to the melodramatic. Carrey was much bigger than Laurie when both were only doing comedy.
@theitfactorjameswheezer28527 күн бұрын
@@DerpRulesAllCarrey is Always much bigger. I'm not comparing their acting ability or anything but Carrey is by far a bigger superstar, he was a leading man and is still in successful films even if he's nearing retirement, Hugh Laurie was never as big a name as Carrey or Robin Williams. Even now he isn't.

Im sorry but the Kaufman thing and subsequent behavior is easily carrey at his most smug and obnoxious. I can respect someones process until it starts to lean into disrespect of your colleagues and even kaufmans memory. As even people who knew him were clear with carrey that that isnt how he acted.

Drama is easy, Comedy is hard. I doubt Jim made anyone cry with any of his performances. other than the really bad "comedy". sometimes when being good at something isn't enough, you need to chill the fuck out.
