These are Asian elephants. Their larger cousins come from Africa. They are the largest land animal, but not the planets biggest. The Largest animal know to have ever existed is the Blue Whale, weighing in at 170+ tons.

@@reducecotwo Darrick rescued baby Kham La. Darrick & Lek rescued all of them, they trust them and have developed a fondness for them as they've learned to trust them. They've developed that appreciation for Darrick the more, for Kham La's sake, because they know the love the two share. I adopted a dog decades ago that would not eat until *after hugs, Love always came first with him. Creatures *do love! The caretakers of that herd are the ones that feed them, not Darrick.

Elephants can distinguish different smells between different humans though. When an elephant remembers a kind person by their smell, he will love and approach that person. That same elephant would run away from a person who was cruel to him when smelling that person

People who've grown up with the internet will never understand how amazing it is to see creatures like this so easily, at the touch of a button. When I was a kid, the only way I could see an elephant was in a movie or TV show, a NatGeo magazine, etc. Many of these exotic creatures seemed so distant from me, and now I can watch videos like this whenever I want, and see elephants cuddling, eating, playing and having fun. It's remarkable.

Yeah, I grew up in the 1980s before the internet myself. We could only see elephants on TV, in movies, or books and magazines. And also the zoo and the circus. Did you ever see elephants in the zoo or circus as a kid? But yes, we sure didn't have access to see so many things at the toych of a button, and on a rectangular object that fits in our pockets and we can carry it around everywhere

+Spaisekraft, I volunteered to work with elephants 4 years ago just north fr Surin. I was overcharged. It was a volunteer adventure with little work. True volunteer places require you to do work and in return they give you a place to stay and food. Many have figured out that tourists are willing to pay to work. One place wanted $2,500- to volunteer for a week. You can stay in a luxury hotel on a beach plus food for that much. So do research and get a really rewarding experience. Thailand can be inexpensive but if you are willing to pay more, they'll take it.

Lek is the most kind, beautiful, compassionate woman ever. The video showing how she rescued all the ducks, chickens, and geese whose feet were tightly bound , lying helplessly , and scared because they were being sold at the live animal market to be slaughtered. This particular video showed how one of the goose's wing was broken as the goose laid on the ground with one of its wing spread out. Lek paid the owner for all of the ducks, chickens, and geese ----- all of them were weighed. What brought me to tears is when Lek had the owner untie the legs of the duck with the broken wing. As soon as the legs were untied, Lek showed love and compassion for the duck by picking up the duck with both hands, arms, then, holding the duck close to her to help comfort and reduce the duck's fear and anxieties. Lek showed all the ducks, chickens, and geese enjoying their well-deserved freedom and life . Lek literally rescued the ducks, chickens, and geese from death's doorsteps. These birds were so gentle, curious, and full of life. So sad that beautiful animals are raised in cruel, abusive conditions for human consumption. People enjoy a meal of chicken, beef or pork and do not think about the painful suffering and great misery involved in the brief life of all these innocent, gentle, intelligent, and loving animals. Vegetarian diets should help save all the animals from needless pain and suffering. Be a vegetarian and help save all animals.

Even if people would start with a day of no meat each week and go from there it would mean a huge difference, the main thing is to start. Then add more vegetables. I’m so grateful they have such an amazing place to live where they’re free and very much loved. God bless these majestic creatures and the staff that takes care of them. We have a great elephant sanctuary in TN but due to respect for the elephants and wanting them to live freely with no distractions, they don’t allow visitors. I think it’s great but I do wish I could pet them and hug them!
