This is literally the ending of 1984, where the main character is tortured until he confesses to the state and “becomes a good citizen”

That's a great comparison. I didn't think of that. It's uncanny how well Orwell described the methodology that would be used by communist regimes. 1984 was published the same year as the communist take over in China: 1949.

This hit too close to home for me, I almost cried. When I was in elementary school they practiced something similar. All that was needed to do was to radicalize kids that didn't have strong opinions yet, the kids handled the rest. I only barely endured for 2 reasons. I organically began using the socratic method and stopped being as outspoken about my beliefs. I began having passive suicidal ideation due to guilt spurred on by the accusations but luckily not guided by them, meaning their accusations made me feel like a bad person but I used different charges. It was terrible, but then I met God.

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual wickedness in high places. - Ephesians 6:12 The fact that they managed to merge spiritual practices with something so corrupt and dehumanizing is truly terrifying. Thank you for the video! It's not easy to find information about the inner workings of the chinese communists.
@iforget69406 ай бұрын
I wouldn't say this is necessarily spiritual exploitation, as they are just abusing the psychological underpinnings that constitute spiritual and religious practices, without the need of metaphysical thinking. To me, they are exploiting the basic need for community through isolation and the need to self preserve they exploiting the their need of Personal identity through a methodology that makes you an Outcast until you think of yourself as a burden upon society and that you are meaningless unless you become the herd itself having a non self identity but a group identity.

In Marine Corps Boot Camp I was a bit too wise, and understanding and actually enjoying the process of disciplined boot camp and rigorous physical training. I was the designated leader: Guide. But I suppose they wanted to test me., so they took me to a private room and surrounded me by 5 Drill Instructors who together began screaming and spitting in my face . Hurling insults at me and tearing me down for over 30 minutes. It was like a scene out of clockwork orange (the movie). I knew what they were doing. Cute! FU! But it didn’t matter. About 30 minutes into it I broke down emotionally ,… at which point they all walked away and I was standing there alone in the room: totally shaken. /// this didn’t change anything within me. It was just an “interesting” experience. Ironically,.. That was actually the moment I stopped being a “US Marine”. Always a patriot. Always willing to do my patriotic duty. To fight and die for right initiatives. But never one to buy in to “Group Think” or coercive persuasion tactics. Even today when somebody says to me “Semper Fi”…. I kind of feel sorry for them if I sense in them being a proud, tattooed up, non-Thinking, follower of the Brand rather than an independent sovereign.

What I'm getting from your video is that totalitarianism, despite its drawbacks, is the modern day expression of the ancient philosophy of the stoic philosophers like Confucius. These philosophers said the human mind needed to be rigorously trained and disciplined in order to live a good life. Now isn't that exactly what totalitarianism is trying to do? And there is simply some collateral damage along the way. That's the message I am getting from your video. I don't really see that you are condemning totalitarianism. Talking about all the bad things about something does not mean you are actually condemning that thing - this is a fundamental mistake people make over and over again.
