This all may apply to rational thought , but we are being exposed to the worst combination, the intersection of cult followers and politics. The rule of law equally applied, is now publicly dismissed and flaunted by the powerful. Democracy is finished

Nope. I'm authentic AF. I remember who I used to be, and I can look and see who I am now. I know what makes me different from others, and I enjoy expressing these aspects of my personality. Here in the real world, we already mapped the human genome. Genetically, I am 100% statistically unique among humans, beyond the shadow of a doubt. Bro is just crying because his memes are bad and he can't talk to girls.

Putting on with people is more mentally draining than not putting on with people. Talking about things you really don't wanna talk about and behaving in a way you don't wanna behave. But if you just be yourself, you're not going through all that.

The question of an authentic self is actually very simple. There is this "attachment theory", and people with "secure attachments" are those, who have this authentic "true self". So even when they wear masks, they are still themselves. All other styles of attachment are a result of a trauma, usually in childhood. People who were traumatized lost their ability to really bound with others, and thus are emotionally dead. They put on a mask and become it, but there is nothing but a void inside. Those people are not able of real empathy, only of cognitive one. They can cathex images of others in their mind, instead of real person, or not being able to hold images of others when they are not around. Their self-esteem is dependent on evaluation by others, and when it crumbles, it can lead them to their demise. As someone, who cannot really love others, cannot love themselves. Many of those can live their whole live in an addiction to attention by others, confusing it with love. But they do not really love others or themselves, only stuff their are being gratified by those...

Orwell was not predicting a future in 1984, he was reframing his experiences in the 1930s and during WW2 in a fictional society. It has been said that he wanted to call the book 1948, but his editors insisted on flipping the last two digits, as it was "too much on the nose". Others claim otherwise, but the plethora of disputed myths just around the title of Orwell's (Eric Blair) last book, shows how even such an influential writer has become a seriously foggy ground of ideological disputes. The corporate West frames 1984 (& Blair's "Animal Farm) as an allegory about the perils of socialism/communism, while more left wing perspectives take it more as an allegory of industrial consumer societies. Orwell was critical of pro Soviet (ie pro Stalinist) perspectives, after his experiences fighting with the syndicalist anarchists faction within the Republican gov't forces of the Spanish Civil War. Blair later gave lists of names of persons he thought were too socialist to the UK gov't during the war. So a question many humanists need to ask is just what did Blair/Orwell stand for? Or what was the evolution/ sequence of political analysis and positions did he go through, through out his curious life?

Wrong. There r plenty of people being ‘real’. We express empathy when we feel it, we r brave in the eye of conformity, & we r strong in our principles, we do as we say & say as we do. If a person is not, they can always choose to improve. Find where u r lacking through difficult personal exploration & then pursue the knowledge required to improve those deficits. …..or u can blame someone or something else & claim a universal phenomenon.

I think in politics leaders use the "euphemisms", sometimes called dog whistles, a lot to make something harmful, for example racism or transphobia, sound acceptable but sneakily communicates to party loyalists the actual content of their speech. For example instead of saying overt white supremacist stuff they will say "western values and ideals". I think manipulation of language in general is a threat because the educational system doesnt really prepare us for the wide variety of manipulative tactics people use to make their ideas seem rational and reasonable

Do you even understand what a false self is?? Clearly not, nor do you then realise the ignorance of your idea. People bandy words about without really understanding what these words describe. Such is social media...full of fools believing they're insightful. No, this is paranoid lumpen idiocy. The implication is you may be a real self? And how would a personality evolve with no conflict endogenously or exogenously from birth to adulthood? It can't is the answer....so everyone has adaptive structures....and don't know it....but these can be resolved in therapy when conducted extremely well.....thought itself is an adaptive structure relative to the Self.... understanding Krishnamurti or RD Laing tells this tale from two different poles. But this video is horse sht.

I think that people hide themselves because they infact - are - really guilty. I am too. That much about guilt. But, also IMHO, what was violently abolished, but is absolutely necessary in a human, and humane, society is - shame, a very foundation of all human culture. P.S. Poor old Nietzsche was absolutely truthfull in this tirade about - himself. 🧠 But, he was deluded that there is no one outside of him to confess his sins, and no Mercy in this world. And, all alone, or feeling as such, people die... R.I.P. ✝️👋

Interesting! The concept of God is how a person's concept of what God is. In other words, we are actually the creator of what God is to be, in our minds. But to Nietzsche, God is dead and we have killed Him. Which means when we replace our conscience with emotions and live according it, then we have killed Him. Where our conscience is, is actually the value of God in a person. Not feel good or bad, positive nor negative. JamesWhiskey%

I feel like I'm trapped amongst a species of mimics and I was told for as long as I can remember to be a mimic. I chose not to participate and suffered, so I learned to mimic the mimics in a way that I wouldn't become a mimic but was able to be around the mimics who were mimicking other mimics who wanted to be mimics even though I wasn't a mimic and wanted to be unique I came to realize I had become like every other mimic in that "want to be" as opposed to just being... I played this mimic game for a long time. Then... One day I woke up and now, now I just exist and I have nothing to say, I just observe. I don't even know how to express feelings anymore. I just exist.

The mask is like both a protector and a parasite. The mask helps hide our weaknesses and at the same time can project a false enticing image to trick others into loving and liking our persona. Tragically this mask becomes exhausting to maintain yet there is a great fear that lurks in the psyche “what if everyone dislikes me when I’m exposed”. Personally I’ve found it more securing forming relationships from a point of warts and all, you have more energy by just simply being you and you’re more relaxed (a women who projects a mask of beauty will fear losing that just as a man who projects a mask of power both have become tied to their masks and fear letting them go, yet in the darkness we can discover a hidden light of authenticity that can be rekindled back to life to live our life).
