I press the refill bottle into the marker, but remove both caps first because of pressure. This way is quick, not messy at all.

How do you tell if a colourless blender is dry
@shayzilla11625 жыл бұрын
In my experience, the brush nib (or whichever end you use the most) will physically feel dry. Most markers feel cold and wet if you touch the nib, but it will feel dry. Another way, is if you just use the colourless blender on a spare sheet of paper, it will look slightly darker than the paper (like a bluish gray tone) which is just the ink on the paper when its wet and hasnt dried yet. If your blender is dry, it wont leave any colour. I hope that helps :))

Why after refilling my marker is still not very juicy, or can't keep for long until next refill. I always refill it when it is super dry, normally 20 drops each time. Don't know what is wrong.
@WindyIris6 жыл бұрын
Perhaps it's the paper you're using? Some paper suck the ink out of a marker really fast (mixed media and watercolor papers are examples). It may be that the nibs are not connecting properly to the inner piece that holds the ink - perhaps try replacing the nib. I have found that the markers do tend to run out faster after you refill them, that's normal but it should feel pretty juicy after you've refilled it so I would try replacing the nib or checking your paper and see if that helps😀

Will try. Thank you for your time and tips.

Like you, I struggled to refill my Copic Sketch Markers. I either never had enough ink, or too much so that it would end up coming out in a blob. I removed the guesswork, and my markers are perfectly juicy like the day I bought them. You need two items... Copic Booster Needles (they come three to a pack) and a small, inexpensive scale that reads in grams. Weigh your marker with both caps on (should be 14 grams when perfectly full). If it is 12 grams you will need to fill it with 2 grams of ink. Attach a needle to your ink refill. The side of the refill has little hash marks. Each one of those little lines equals 1 gram. Notice how much ink is in the refill and go down two lines (2 grams). When the ink reaches that second line, you will stop refilling. Okay... Remove both caps from your marker, and slide the tip of the needle down between the side of the wide nib and the plastic. Make sure the flat side of the needle tip is facing the nib. Gently squeeze the refill and allow the ink to flow into the marker nib. Check now and then to see if you have reached that second line. Once you have, stop refilling and lay your marker flat with both caps covering the nibs, but not locked in place. If you were to weigh your marker now, it would be a perfect 14 grams. Remove the needle from the refill and clean the needle. I like to attach it to my Colorless Blender Refill (0) and give the refill a little squeeze to push the color ink out. Your marker is now ready for use or to be stored.

Is there only one reservoir for both the brush and chisel tip? Or do I have to take off each end and refill each end? I’ve noticed my brush tips still has ink in it but the chiseled and seems to be dry.
@daffiid5 жыл бұрын
Put one or two drops on the tip after you reinsert it; your tip will be saturated again so you'll be able to continue using it immediately

Have you ever experienced a brush nib that is sticky or tacky when using it and the ink won't come out evenly? I've had two markers do that recently. One of which I have a refill for, so I refilled it, but it still won't come out. And to make things worse, the chisel nib on that marker is also dry and refilling doesn't make that side usable. I feel like I've lost a whole marker. I think something is wrong with the nib. I ordered a replacement brush nib, so I hope replacing it will fix my problem.
@WindyIris5 жыл бұрын
Yes I actually have had that for two of my markers. Two very dark colours and unfortunately I have not been able to fix them. I have been considering soaking the whole marker in rubbing alcohol to clean it out and then re-filling but I haven't tried that yet. I have tried replacing the nibs and that didn't work. I'll update you if I find a solution:)

Doing a bit more research, I stumbled upon this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z2OZZomJbLCMb9U 24 hours before, I had refilled the marker and I thought, "well, it couldn't hurt to just check one more time." And lo and behold, it was a juicy brush nib again! I guess I had to wait longer than an hour or so, it took upwards of a day for the nib to absorb the ink. I just find it so strange that the last time I had refilled it, it was some 4 months ago and I definitely did not use up the marker that it needed to be refilled again. I have been experiencing a totally dried up and unusable chisel nib, so maybe the ink is drying up b/c that end isn't airtight somehow. I just took about 20 minutes to check on the caps, and I figured out my problem. The caps on the dried chisel nib and the sticky brush nip aren't airtight! It takes almost no effort to pull the cap straight out. I'm going to use tape to shut and hopefully seal off any marker caps that are loose and hopefully my markers will be usable for a long time more.

How long does it take for a marker to be out of ink because I bought some two months ago and one seems to be out (I'm a beginner with alcohol markers and paints last far longer so I'm not sure)? Thanks
@WindyIris4 жыл бұрын
It really depends on the paper you use, some papers use up more ink than others. If you are using a mixed media or watercolour paper then your markers will run out quicker. If you don't have too many colours then some colours will run out quickly as you use then more, to blend etc. To test, you can scribble the chisel end of the marker onto the paper and if there are lines in the colour swatch, then the marker is running out:) Hope that helps.

Iris!This is important when you're doing the barrel method don't use your hands use a twisser(sorry if wrong spelling)there is a Copics twisser to use when doing that method because you can hurt the nib or tip of the Copics Marker so yeah i recommend using the twisser because again it can hurt your tip or nib of your Copics Marker just saying >~< BUT.I subbed.My good deed of the day.
