To be fair on the Kai. Look how his forwards are positioned vs. The opportunity Asher has.

Of course! The forward positioning helps immensely but there are still open lines that the Kai should be hitting and they aren't. Sure it's an extreme example, but I think this perfectly showcased the stark contrast between proper and improper clears.

@@BrotherHood-xh9sg Here is breakdown of every single hit Kai did in the clip shown. 1) Don't waste an ability as a goalie starting the round like 95% of the time 2) This one was fine 3) Should have been up to the Juno blob 4) Should have been to the orb spawning up top 5) Should have been between the Dubu and myself there is a huge gap in the middle 6) Even bigger gap there throw it between us. Not his fault his team isn't there but it still is where he should send the core. 7) He has atlas between the Dubu and myself it should go there. 8) Another big gap between the Dubu and myself. 9) This barrage did nothing. 10) As discussed later he needs to hit this up. So in this clip the 10 times he redirected the core I genuinely think only 1 of them was correct. I went through and articulated all this not to bash on him or even to say that you are wrong, but a lot of people have been defending this Kai because the forwards aren't doing their jobs. Which is true but neither is he. I thought the difference between the way they were hitting the core would be enough for most people but I was wrong. I'm going to pin your comment in hopes that other people read this as everything I just typed out is bonus knowledge.

As someone who is studying sports psychology in school, this video was really well done to actually teach applicable skills. Especially the segment where it showed the freeze frame with the arrows, those kind of pass/fail tests with instant feedback coupled with an explanation for why the answer is what it is are really good for developing an intuitive and applicable understanding of those concepts. I'd love to see more exercises like that in future videos!

17:07 an alternate play you can make here as a forward is to hit the core straight down as a pass to the Rasmus. Since you're banking it off the wall the core will be slower and will give your Rasmus time to collect the core and keep advancing the play. Great vid though!

I imagine that you don't see many back passes is that because it is so rare goalies might not be ready for it and you may just own goal if you try. At lower skill levels I'm convinced your goalie will be confused and spam the question mark emote. So probably not the best place to try it out there.

This is incredibly helpful for knowing what to do with the core, although I might add that it's important to use the walls to your advantage when in both an offensive and defensive position. In round #2, the Asher also had the option to hit it down to self pass off of the wall and fade up to put themselves in a more advantageous position with better control over the core, and in round #3 the Vyce had the option to hit it straight up for a self pass to let their teammates spread out and to force the player ready for the crossup (in this case you) to commit to something such as an ability or cutting off their options by getting too close to a wall. These were the only real instances that a self pass would be useful but they would be incredibly useful for the goalies in those scenarios. Other than that, this was an incredible video and definitely showed me a few more options that I can have when attempting to clear as a goalie!

Not gonna lie. At around 12:00, with all that lead up of "hey this is an obvious pass that you should see, don't take the solo queue hero route, just pass to the open teammate who is literally standing there waiting for it," I was fully expecting time to resume and the Drek'kar to shoot it down, them mistime his primary and the lose strike war as a result. Good to see somebody making the right choice. Gotta admit his name does look a tad familiar though...

Nice guide. I'm surprised that I pretty much already am aware of what i should be doing when i strike the core, I just need to be more consistent in making the right decision. And better at aiming. It's rough trying to hit somewhere specific and being slightly off enough for things to go south (or for lag to kick in and drop the aim from my controller. I've self goaled like three times from that and looked like a troll).

I got Round 1, I was between the green and red arrow on Round 2, got it on Round 3, got it on Round 4, got it on Round 5, for Round 6 I didn't know if Estelle had her blink up so for me a pass straight up was my choice since a pass directly to AiMi could've been intercepted by Estelle's blink, got it on Round 7, got the orange on Round 8, got it on Round 9 and I had 2 options for Round 10 but got it right. For a High Gold Estelle Mid main, not bad! I've been told by Diamond players that I have at least diamond level which is nice, I just have to climb and with SoloQ being SoloQ it can be hard, your guides helps a lot for sure! :D

Ended up scoring a 7/10, there were a few times there where I sort of forgot the wall was an option. But, I've only been playing for the past day, so I figure I'll get more used to that. I didn't think the back pass from round #8 was something so foreign to people, but I also duo queue with my goalie. So I end up back passing to him to set up plays in the beginning of the round pretty often. Sometimes I really shouldn't, I just find it hard to trust the other forward sometimes. That's just something I'll have to get over if I want to climb though, I know. Overall, very informative video. I'll have to do my best to start implementing some of this, as I do often get myself into strike wars that I just lose because I panic-clicked the core first.

In the 6th case I think it would be reasonable to strike the core to the bottom red arrow, a pass being obvious is bad in this case, estelle can redirect the core with skills, striking the upper bumper; striking below would just "pass" to the enemy but they can only return to Drekar or strike up to Ai.Mi, I think it's a net neutral in this case.
@LovenO.S.
@LovenO.S. Жыл бұрын
I just typed up a big paragraph and refreshed so I lost it...... So I'm going to keep this short. Red line doesn't progress the offensive attack. It should easily get past the drekar if they take this line. This is why it's bad your setting up the other teams offensive front with this type of play. As they will just clear it around us / through drek. Green Line good because if Kai isn't core chasing and playing up like they should. If Estelle cuts the pass with an ability Kai gets core control and still feeds it to me. I hope that explains it well enough I had so much more written out and I'm not rewriting it.

Great vid got 8/10. The first one confused me bc I didn't listen to the instructions well and was like "what is the Ai.Mi supposed to do other than what she already did?" And then the last one I thought Estelle would've self passed off the wall instead for the same trajectory but slower. Honestly IDK why I thought that, maybe I'm too goalie-brained to properly self pass.

I think a slow pass down would be fine if they Estelle didn't have so many blink awakenings which obviously you can't tell from the clip. I should have highlighted her awakenings and the abilities she had up at the time to make it more clear what the play should be. It kind of served as a gotcha moment which I did because I wanted to end the video by making the viewer think about how they can use strike in conjunction with their abilities. Idk trying my best out here :P

For round 2 I probably would've passed in between the aimi and the orb with the intention that the aimi would get it after it bounces from the wall. Might get a bit tight with the possible projection from atlas, but I think it's doable. I got 8/9 other ones, last one was tricky.
@LovenO.S.

There is for sure a degree with which the green line represents. The green line is probably the safest line that works basically all the time. The last round is intentionally hard to get you thinking about how strike can be used in conjunction with abilities.

Clearing away from the enemy is a good general rule of thumb, but with experience, you will find exceptions to this rule. For example, when playing goalie against a forward Estelle, you generally never want to strike across your goal line because an experienced Estelle will anticipate this and use an ability to shoot the core in. So, in this example, my rule of thumb here is clear "same side" (into the diagonal if possible) until you know that her abilities are on cooldown.

On round 1, it looks to me like if kai kicks the core up, your glitch pop will still reach it in time, hitting it after kai, resulting in a goal? I was thinking that if the kai were aware of the glitch pop, kai needs to move back into his goal so he doesnt end up stunned with the ball moving in so that he can guarentee kicking it after your glitch pop is done. From there though, the angle up into the top right diagonal of the map is cut off, making kais life 100x harder... maybe toss it to juno and pray she can win a kick off against you to clear the core? I definitely agree with the angle youre saying kai would want, but I'm not sure he can actually get that angle in the situation provided. Do you think I'm wrong here?
