Just to clarify what he said about "bumpers", thats the corners of the map. You cannot be killed on them. It's actually pretty easy to bait abilities if you can stand such that they will knock you into the corner. Suddenly the enemy team is down half their abilities and they are frustrated they couldn't quite kill you and you stagger is going to regen soon, and thats a good spot to be in. Depending on the comp though, you may want to be more or less defensive. Sometimes I just retreat to the opposite corner on our side as a goalie, so I'm covering a potential cross shot, but am not in the action. That's probably the best thing to do if exerting pressure directly is just going to get you instakilled. Another tactic is to intentionally give yourself an opening to be killed and then fade back, to bait an enemy ability or combo. Make them see a juicy easy kill lining up and then stop it after they commit. A positioning topic not covered here is your combo spots and how to position to facilitate them. There's basically 2 ways to score a goal. Either cross around the goalie or stuff through the goalie. Stuffing through the goalie is something just about every forward has a combo for, but these are very positioning dependent. Someone like Aimi can bank a shot off the side such that the goalie has to stop the core but that Aimi can blink and hit the core and them covering both an early hit or a late hit from the goalie. Juliette on the other hand needs that perfect distance between her having the core and the goalie to do her dash punch combo and force it through. Getting the core in a position where you can't do anything with it isn't that valuable, but if you can consistently setup these combo checkmate scenarios, you will score A LOT more. Now, I did say checkmate, but there is normally some way out with abilities, and then it comes down to baiting abilities and predicting them and a whole complex mindgame that makes up high level omega strikers. When this becomes relevant, it's very useful to know the corner dribbling spot, where you can hit it at the corner and have it bounce back to you, to bait out potential goalie abilities. You even see it happen a few times in this video even though its not mentioned. Just my two cents mostly from watching high level play. I think Bells is a really interesting player to watch because he is IMO the best killer in the game. He finds these perfect moments right when everyones focus is elsewhere to pick off non staggered kills with juliette. I think theres a lot to learn about getting KOs from watching him in tournaments.

Nice video. I think the biggest problem people have right now is not understanding when to swap tactic. In the example you gave around 7:30. If the Rasmus run past you through the middle and 2v1 the X you would have to step in to help, as it is most likely going to get pressured toward your goal with no safe way of passing. But, majority of people I see in gold would still stay top lane and wait for a miracle to happen that somehow the X will be able to break through 2 people and pass the ball to top lane. And in the same example, if you as AI MI, goes to bot lane to 2 v 1 Octavia, it would force the Rasmus to go down too. However, Ai Mi has teleport to easily get back to top when the goalie try to clear, but Rasmus cannot. It is this type of adaptability people need to learn to get to higher level. There was one time I was Drekar Goalie in Athen City. The enemy won the initial striker war and kicked the core to my top end. The enemy bottom forward Estelle quickly shifted to my bottom right side forming a pincer situation. And my own 2 forwards stayed in midfield behind the 2 enemies waiting for a pass. I have seen too many forward not recognizing when the goalie or other forward needs help, but they still just wait for a impossible pass to occur. It would be great if you can cover these too.
@LovenO.S.
@LovenO.S. Жыл бұрын
Those are valid situations that i didn't dicuss in this. I think the most real scenario if the Rasmus moves down and overloads the X the core just goes to rune who clears it up to me with an open field ahead. Also i have lower positioning than the Rasmus which gives me an opportunity to pick up the speed before him and deny him the chance to make a play on the bottom. I think i could do a whole video on pressure and ways to releave pressure from your teammates but i think in the set of videos i have in mind that is a later discussion but a good one to keep in mind
@AWanderingSwordsman
@AWanderingSwordsman Жыл бұрын
You actually see in the video the ideal things to do, he just doesn't talk about them. Typically in the 2 forward pincer attack, you should try and be between the two of them, closer to the person that doesn't have the core, to intercept passes. This also means you can use your abilities parallel to you goal making it much less likely that you hit the core towards your own goal. If that pincer is formed and you are goalie and your forwards are just too far away, you are already in a bad spot. You have to either predict the pass with an ability to intercept, or stuff the core through one forward. Basically a 50-50. Sometimes they also open a clear window between them. You need to do this while avoiding getting hit by the forward without the core so you also have to dodge abilities and keeping in mind how the forward with the core might try to stuff you. Ideally you think about what they most want to do, and you preempt it just barely, after they've mentally committed to an option, such as hitting them with an ability right before they are going to strike it or you moving up to force a strike way cutting off the cross.
@TorManiak
@TorManiak Жыл бұрын
Yeah, that's basically my issue alongside some that are already discussed in the video. Since I mostly play Octavia, it's even more essential that I position myself right since most of my ability to pressure comes from Flow State (as far as I know, I'm not at a high level as of now), and when I don't use it, I am very slow. Thus, it's especially important for me to know when I should help the other forward and separate from my space. Right now, I usually end up not getting the ball because I assume too much or too little that my teammate will cook, and end up giving away a lock or a goal. Some tips as a video will probably give me enough tools to practice with.

lol what can I say. I played this game for 10-15 hours, watched this 31 minute video and immediately understood why the way I was playing was trash, and then had probably the best 10 games I've played yet, scoring multiple goals or setups in each. If that's not evidence enough for how helpful this is, I don't know what could be.

I started playing this game as goalie since my friend didn't like the role too much, and I still primarily do, but I started venturing into forward with characters like Rune and X, and knew that the biggest peeve I had as a goalie were forwards being in the goal box with me, so that was the one thing I had little issues with but I was so lost on everything else with being a forward. This video has really given me some things to work and focus on as I keep working on playing forward, so thanks!

Spread out is a ping I see many people using, but when the person uses it and I leave that area to them, they are unable to defend alone. It's so ironic. It works more if I just get as much speed or range as possible to be able to protect multiple zones at the same time and don't depend on them all the time, you could link that up to your previous teaching about zone of influence, would be better but you did a good job explaining.

I did confirm "The core never comes to me" and it's due to my goalie preferring to pass it to my ally who has the whole enemy team, the police, the military and the 3 surrounding towns on them instead of me standing in a very open position, or the goalie ping-ponging. Something missing from the discussion as a flex player instead of just a forward is having a 2nd player play goalie right on top of you like that is...very very difficult, because often they are just straight up a worse goalie than the goalie is, and don't clear properly so they will force a strike war for no reason and try to force it past. Thankfully it mostly stops once you get out of the ELO hell of gold unless the forward has lost trust in their goalie.

That was a "complaint" I had myself I admit this isn't the best produced content you will find on KZbin. I don't know if I will change that going forward as I value clarity highly and taking time to enunciate is intentional. I honestly recommend that if you find it to be slow the view of course can speed it up. I recently watched this back to critique it myself and I turned it up to 1.25x times speed. I appreciate the feedback though I've got a lot of growing to do with my video making skills as this was a first.

Good question hard to state without an image or a video to look at. I'm working on a video right now thY will hopefully help you answer that question for yourself. A short answer is just because someone spams pass doesn't mean they are correct. I have seen people press the pass ping in high elo when there is no way to get the core to them or even after i just tried to and lost a strike war. If there is no window to pass it to your teammate and you try to anyway odds are it will be heading towards your goal soon. So if therr is no passing window don't pass.

Honestly not sure what you mean by this. If you are asking what overtime does as far as I know it makes the core move faster by either making it weaker (defenisvely) giving the strikers extra power. I don't really know which it is. Also respawn times increase I believe. If you are asking how this should effect your positioning idk. It probably doesn't change much but my experience with overtime and actively thinking about it is very limited.
