For me felt rdyish after say 600 miles a big ride for service. Then did a big trip to Wales few months back. Definitely noticed the power in the black hills. Otherwise loved the 125 for local rides even 1hr plus...just longer stints felt restricted. (Especially laden down). Have managed to get a quote on a 650 for £200. Enfield £150.

Nice! I'm assuming those are insurance prices and not the prices of the bikes? Haha

It's so different getting back on the 125 after a whole day of big bike training. I couldn't believe how bad my 125s brakes were in comparison

Good points raised. After 4 yrs. Im happy I made the jump up from my 125. Although most of my riding is short local commuting that the 125 was really better suited for due to size and economy, the times I ride out further on faster roads make trips far more enjoyable and less stressful and my learning is continuing, just with different things to consider. I dropped my 125 a couple of times and also my 500 twice now, lack of technique for the short-of-leg played a part both times!

Unfortunately my bike has touched the floor a couple of times too, both due to some challenging terrain I couldn't handle yet 😭one drop was pretty hilarious to watch though I bet. The bike rolled off its side stand with me standing next to it so luckily it took no damage because I kinda just folded underneath it 🤦‍♀️😂

@@ayserides Sounds like my experiences! Both times once to the left, once to the right - both on my driveway, not hard dropped, but put down slowly in a vaguely careful oh-s#!-its-going-down-and-I-can't-stop-it sort of way. I've got crash bars now 😆 luckily bike is old and I can call scratches patina! The sidestand thing happened to me on the 125 once.

Really informative tips. I commented on one of your other videos about being so nervous on my CBT with a geared bike and I was put on a 50cc scooter in the end. Now I have had my cb125f a couple of months and use it for my daily commute, I am started to build confidence up riding. It is almost like I am going down the same road as yourself but just a few months behind you. Everyone I have spoken to gets the itch for wanting more power but I don't see the point in buying a 1000cc+ bike when I'm never going to be able to do anywhere near the top speed (legally anyways) I was thinking more of a mid range like a 350 or a 500cc which I think you can get with an A2 licence? Have you ever thought about becoming an instructor eventually? Once again awesome video and stay safe.

I think the 3-500cc range is actually perfect. You can wring them out and have some fun with them without losing your licence. I'd love to become an instructor! But I worry that it would take the fun out of riding for me if I had to do it all day, every day

As a 6ft4 guy, I found the 125s too small and underpowered. I took my CBT in January and knew I’d be wanting something bigger. Passed Mod2 on Friday just gone and got myself a Transalp. Loving riding and building my confidence on a better size-matched bike.

How's the Transalp/bike riding going now? I'm also quite long legged so always eager to learn of roomy bikes.

@@itzajdmting I’m loving riding and the Transalp has done me proud for my first year. I keep looking for ‘upgrades’. Not silly power. Just a little more. But yes it’s great. Thanks for asking

I liked the points spoken about and agreed. Personally, as I am currently coming up to my one year soon I think riding on a CBT for a year can be used to cement the decision of becoming a biker or just somebody that casually enjoys it. As getting a bigger bike, and license entails much more training and a better mindset as it is much less forgiving and requires the rider to always be aware of that. Overall, will be looking forward to the extra power, more presence on the road and I hope to think being taken more seriously by fellow road users.

That's a really good point and I actually never thought of the 125 phase as a kind of biker trial period. It's a fairly inexpensive way to see if you like riding before fully committing to a licence and bigger bike

I just got a bandit 600, yes it’s meant to be restricted but I’ve ridden first 3 days without restrictor, yes illegal aha, but I am putting a restrictor on it but I really don’t want to lose the feeling of the 600 ahahah, I dropped my bandit 600 2 days after getting it because it was midnight and I didn’t know if the kickstand was up or down aha

To be honest, you'll probably never be caught riding an unrestricted bike. But the consequences if you are caught are so damn high, I wouldn't risk it. It's classed as riding without a licence and insurance, so pretty major!

@@ayserides well my first bike on the street was a dual sport at 15 but I got a 600 when I turned 16. I’ve had so many more sketchy scenarios on those two bikes then my 1000 lol.
