Nice vid. I’d only add… Bulgaria’s qualification was quite the tale too. France were cruising, but then collapsed in their final game against Israel and then the Bulgars. One of the most feted sides in the world, yet they missed two World Cups in the bounce (1990 and 1994) and flopped horrendously at Euro 92. Hristo’s (joint) Golden Boot. Nobody has ever looked so hungover at a World Cup as Ivanov; Conte clearly got some hair transplant ideas from Bobby Milhailov; and no Bulgaria in 1994 story is really complete if you don’t mention Boncho Genchev, Ipswich Town’s non-scoring forward, who nonetheless seemed to come on for the last 6 minutes of every match (Bulgaria didn’t have a lot of strength in depth).

The referees tore them apart. All those penalties and red cards against them... Props to them, they kept their heads cool, but I don't see any current East-European side that could be so successful under that kind of adversity!

Fixed 💵 refs robbed Bulgaria 🇧🇬 of 2 blatantly obvious penalties that would’ve gave them 2 goals to win and send them to the finals against Brazil 🇧🇷 and you never know
