It’s the fact that you can’t even attempt to play the game without having a generic out. You didn’t draw it? Oh well, you lose. Your decks strategy is 100% irrelevant unless you’re playing Ninjas. And at that point, you’re playing Ninjas so you automatically take an L regardless of if you win or not. I’ve never been this conflicted on a deck. It’s so mid because it loses to its outs automatically but if you don’t have them it’s pretty much impossible to beat.

If there's only one or two strategies viable to survive in the current meta, it's not that fun, because everyone is gonna pick either one or the other. Tbf, it can be fun, there's still room for personal strategy, but my enjoyment in these kind of games comes from coming up with my own personalized decks. I still do very much play this way and have fun doing it, but it saddens me how the other playstyle is incentivized

#ReviveBattleTrap Modern Yugioh REALLY need to bring back the amazing battle trap's nostalgia!! Something like a "Mirror Force Kuriboh" that discard like Ash to destroy all attacking monsters to upgrade Battle Fader to fit modern standard so the game won't be decided by just Main Phase interaction w Hand Traps Nibiru, Ash, MaxxC (Master duel/OCG)... but actually give meaning to BATTLE. Just imagine screaming "Mirror Forceeeee (Kuri)!!!!!!!!" like the old times or a Modern mirror force that can be activated to destroy from the hand like Imperm and extra shuffle if being Set!! .... And it's NOT that broken since we have infinite negates nowadays and Especially, It somehow beats Kashtira 9 Locks...(I hope). I just miss the time that we battle before summon our first monster MP2 or change monster to defense just to dodge mirror force 😢

Yeah, kashtira is easily outed. So many options available. I ftked a kash player today becausd he tried to nib me mid combo when I had grapha overlord out and sillva in hand. He got hand looped for 2, and after maybe 10 seconds of me continuing my combo, he quit, realizing he was going to get hand looped again. lol Id be pissed if I spent $1000 on a deck that easily loses to a $100 Dark World deck.

people who say Kash is worse than Tear clearly haven't played with/against the deck enough. Kashtira is nowhere near Tear before the ban hammer hit. the 5 zones lock is only possible IF the player is able to go full combo COMPLETELY uninterrupted. And after the 5 zone locks, the Kash player has to be careful with using Shangri-Ira effect as it can help break their own board, so this makes the board even more fragile. Then with that limited monsters with no real negate, Kash player has to expect the opponent to play a monster card for them to interact with to complete the 4 monster zones lock. The full zone lock end board is rarer than you'd think. ash, inf. imperm, nib are generic hand traps that work against the majority of the game, and yes they work here too. and even if you don't have them, you can still expect kaiju cards like Lava Golem, or even Ra Sphere Mode. It's still strong that it shapes the meta into playing 3 Nib in the main Deck, but main decking 3 Ash, 3 Inf. Imperm's and 2-3 Lava Golems/Ra Sphere Mode is nothing new

For me, I don’t like Kashtira because it’s a Troll Deck, it locks zones, and if you add number 11: Big Eye. You can take your opponents monsters and if you add Number 89: Diabolos the Mind Hacker, you banish 3 monsters in your opponents extra deck. That is just my take

The funny thing about Kash is if you tech specifically for Kash. You lose to other types of decks like branded or labrynth. It's actually an interesting conundrum since you have to play a critical mass of handtraps for khashtira to see them in your opening hand or you get otkd.

Not entirely true, Evenly Matched destroys Kashtira, Branded, and Labrynth. Nibiru beats Kash and Branded, Lava Golem arguably beats all 3 as well and beats Swordsoul. Artifact Lancea beats Kash and Branded. You might wanna side extra back row hate for Lab, but there's a lot of overlap in good board breakers this format.

I really love main decking Lava Golem, THE Rock, and making the mode Spehere in Game 2 I swap to a Kaiju Engine with Slumber if they go for the 1 monster line. And if there's a game 3 I stick with the Kaiju line since even if it doesn't hard win vs full combo it softens it and isn't dead if they go for 1 monster again.
