Mages are beatable in pvp, perhaps more so than locks depending on matchups. I think the saltyness towards mages more comes from them being able to do SO MANY things so well. They print money with farming, speedruns, so much utility, ports, great in pve and pvp. Lots of ppl don't dungeon in normal groups anymore, they pay mages to run them. Back in vanilla days we didnt fully realize how mages could kinda break the meta of the game. So some players are salty and see mages as being an OP bandwagon.

I’m Alliance on Whitemane. I can’t tell you how often I get ganked. It’s probably like 5% of Horde that gank me, but that’s still a few times in a day at least. I’ve rarely been killed, even by max levels. The other day I got ganked by a 58 and 57 hunter while I’m a 55 hunter. I killed them both. I actually still don’t understand how that one worked.. maybe they had awful talent builds. I once ran a max level paladin halfway through the Blasted Lands. Nearly from the portal to Swamps of Sorrow. It’s so fun avoiding people… especially Paladins as a Hunter. They try so hard…

reminded me of back in Vanilla, i was playing a prot warrior and it was just after they started changing the way classes were played for the first time and i could start doing half decent damage. I was minding my own buisness in Desolace lvling and fishing when a group of horde ran past, 9 of them ignored me, but 1 couldn't resist the ganking. Killed me in a few minutes. i decided to run back, and he was waiting while his friends watched. The second i spawned he ran at me, but unknownst to him i popped my stam, healing scrolls and was immediately back up to full health then wailed on him killing him in half the time. His mates all stood there laughing at him as i simply returned to my fishing. He spawned a fair way away from me and healed himself up for another pass but his mates all called out to tell me he was coming and told him not to try again. They left me alone after that but i thought it was hilarious, most knew it took far too long to kill prot warriors to the point that it just wasn't worth it.

Hes refined his run for years with top mage play to bring his world record 1-60 time down to 2d 10h (silverhand final LH server) Mage AoE leveling isnt an exploit and none of these streamers are anywhere close to being able to speedrun 1-60 at this point.

Eh, Shadowlands ain't bad. I leveled 20-50 with pvp on and never had a problem. The second I hit the first settlement thing in Bastion: ganked. Went back on my mage and they all stayed dead center so the npcs would take you out if you attacked them... even with pvp on... makes no sense, but whatever. The story play is largely worth it.
