I had just come home from detachment in the Navy. My wife at the time and we're sleeping in separate rooms. She was arguing about something, and I wasn't paying any attention. I was reading the mail. She was pregnant with my youngest daughter. I said something smart to her and then started hitting me with the dust pan. I held my arm up to block it. She grabbed my arm and bit me. I tried to leave but she blocked the door. She calls the police. They got there, and I explained my side, and she explained her side. There are no marks of any kind on her, but I'm bloody with bit marks. We both get arrested. She's charged with a misdemeanor, and I'm charged with a felony cause she was pregnant. I got a criminal layer and a divorced layer after I made bail.

ADT security saved my life 5 years ago. Was dating a gal I knew was a bit toxic, but she was an 8 and the sex was off the chain. Dated for 2 years. Around this time I was starting to get fed up with her arguing and constant need for attention. We got into another argument and this time it got physical. We were in the kitchen and she proceeded to hit me square in the face with a spatchula. Hit me flush over my left eye and broke skin. I was bleeding all over the place. In retaliation, I slugged her. Pulled the punch a bit but as she was fair skinned it left a bruise on her right cheek. (I'm a southpaw) So she get hysterical and calls the cops. They show up 40 minutes later to her with a bruised cheek and me with a 1 inch cut over my eye. I can tell they wanted to destroy me, but the fact that I'm bleeding so much stops them. They ask her what happens 1st and as expected she fabricates s bunch of bullshit...omitting she hit me 1st. Even when they "suggest" that I'm bleeding because she hit me in self defense she avoids answering directly. Now it's my turn and I tell them word for word what happened, and I have proof. She turns even whiter than normal becausr it dawns on her we had a motion detecting camera above the fridge that has full view of the area we had our fight. Just as I say this, she tries to excuse herself but I could see it in her face already. I tell the officers not to let her leave the room because she'd go to delete the footage. They keep her in place and I escort the main officer to the computer, where I pull up the footage and let it play for him. After he watches it over 2 times, he returns to the kitchen, whips out his cuffs and reads my ex her rights. As he does, he tells his partner to go view the footage as well, so I take him to do so. Totally changes the dynamic. They ask do I want to pres charges and I say yes. Just a centimeter lower and I'd be blind in that eye. They cart her off kicking and screaming, and I spend the next few hours in the ER. She was charged with 1st degree assault and sentenced to 5 years in the pokie. To my knowledge she only did 2, not 100% sure cuz I never saw her again. Broke the lease on our flat and moved my ass back to New York. Hard lesson learned through that ordeal. Never ignore the red flags, no matter how juicy she looks. I got lucky in more ways than one.

In the second case, her real personality came out after she was arrested. Beforehand she was doing the whole innocent little girl act, after the handcuffs were slapped on, her body language gave her away when she was talking back to the cop. There were moments of her giving attitude in her vocal tone. Also the rolling of the neck and head turn. She 100% was the agreessor. When the innocent little girl act stopped working, she started acting like her true self, the woman that her ex bf sees everyday. A lot of abusive women do this, they have an act they put on for the world and then you see their true personality behind closed doors. They don't only act this way with romantic partners. Abusive mothers do this as well.

As someone who’s been mugged and beaten up before, I can tell you that the number one thing you can do to tell if someone is lying about being attacked is that they have way too much detail. When you’re being attacked like how she is explaining, you just end up covering up to lower the chances of getting seriously hurt. You kind of end up just hunkering down and pray you get too banged up, unless you’re prepared to do everything you can to fight back and even then, it’s all pretty much just a blur because of your adrenaline and how chaotic those kinds of situations are. As a man who came out of a 17 year abusive marriage, I still feel like I'm looked at as weak, or as if I was in the wrong somehow even though I was the one being abused. This reminds me of an argument I had with my friend, a WW, about how I was abused by police (I'm a BM). This was during George Floyd. She told me to stop whining about it because she had been slammed to the ground as well. Here's the difference in our cases. I was slammed against a car and had a g u n put to my head because I didn't take my seatbelt off fast enough for him and was told by the cop that if I didn't move like lightning is the reason lil "n's" like me got shot.
