For a Cop she didn't recognize she was a person of interest. I'm former police officer I would have stopped talking and said Lawyer even if I didn't do anything. There's plenty of innocent people who talked themselves right into prison. Being innocent is no protection from prosecution.

Worked 24 years on Rikers island and saw many officers and civilian workers arrested for promotion of inmate contraband. Most of these people thought they were so slick that they could not be caught. They forgot one thing, and it was the inmate facing a long sentence will give them up in a heartbeat.

What makes you think the inmate snitched? If you haven't been an inmate or a Correctional officer do not assume. The inmate with the phone will not snitch. In the case of Stephanie Lazarus the officers asked her to attend for interview in a place away from her own police station, supposedly to be discreet and save her from possible embarrassment and gossip as to why she was speaking to detectives, especially as some of her colleagues may be aware that these detectives were working on this reopened case. However the real reason for the location was that the detectives, knowing Lazarus had a volatile temper, were unsure how she would react when they laid their cards on the table and confronted her with all this fresh evidence, so they had to make sure she was unarmed. They asked her to report to a high security building where every visitor had to check their weapons at the door, so as not to arouse her suspicions. When Lazarus gets up and walks out of the room, the officers follow her out, immediately arrest her and put her in cuffs and sit her back down in the seat. For some reason this important part has been omitted.
