Richard, I absolutely love your explanations. Every video feels like an academic masterclass on theory, technique and music appreciation. These must be a lot of work to compile and create. I just wanted to say thank you!

Richard, your channel is a treasure trove for me. I grew up idolizing Dann Huff, Jerry McPherson, Gordon Kennedy…all those guys. I really appreciate the work you’ve put into these. Your play is outstanding. Do you have any other social media or a website where we can connect with you?

Mislabeled... Dan Huff goes Steve Vai as that is an obvious influence.
@RichardWatson
@RichardWatson Жыл бұрын
Again, maybe, but I'm not so sure! Simply because I've never heard Dann talk about Steve Vai as an influence. I far as I know, Dann was listening to a lot of jazz fusion records; Steely Dan, etc when he was growing up and, later, was more influenced by the previous generation of session players (like Steve Lukather) then he was people like Steve Vai and Joe Satriani.

Phil X is a more pure interpretation... imho.
@RichardWatson
@RichardWatson Жыл бұрын
Perhaps. However, the timeline wouldn't quite line up. Dann was doing sessions from the early 80's onwards (so had been on the scene 10 years when he released this record with Giant). Phil came onto the session scene at the very end of the 80's/early 90's - Dann's playing style was well established long before then.
