When DAVE MOORCROFT Dominated Middle Distance Running

Moorcroft appeared in three Olympic Games for Great Britain in the late 1970s and early 1980s. He is also a two-time Commonwealth Games champion, with gold medals for both the 1500m and 5000m events. In 1982, he broke the world record in the 5000m by more than five seconds. Moorcroft's record stood for more than three years.

Thank you for posting this excellent clip. I absolutely adore Dave Moorcroft's talent and humility, but in watching the final few frantic seconds of the 1978 Commonwealth 1500m, I have to ask myself over and over again, and with reference to the 1976 Olympic 1500m final - why oh why did Frank Clement; with his searing kick, always wait just a few seconds too late to unleash his blinding speed! If you watch the leading three runners over the last 20m in Edmonton, then perceive Clement coming into the picture, it is clear Clement had access to a gear that he never learned to use!

@@runningbroscience1534 yeah you are totally right there, there are so many bizarre things happening on so many levels, I got up this morning looked out the front door & there were hundreds of Freedom movement protester Truckers going past, going from one end of the country to the other on their way to parliament, the protests spread super fast From Canada to all over different countries, thanks for the video up loads, no carbon fibre plates in those days but they had some amazing times ✅😆🌲🥳✌️🍀👍🏼
