Just saw this lecture by Michael Knowles in my feed even though it is three years old. Regardless, Michael delivered a very good lecture. During his lecture, the camera looked at some of the individual students, and each one was actually listening to him and appeared to be paying attention. This is an excellent way to teach the youngsters - God knows they're not getting a genuine education in school or college. Thank you, DailyWire+ for uploading this important lecture.

When this question has been posed to me in the past, I turn around and ask this one: "If a war was to break out between the U.S. and their home country tomorrow, whose side would you be on?" Their answer usually tells you all you need to know about the person's ideals. There is nothing wrong with celebrating your heritage, and remembering where you came from. People do that all the time, in the form of celebrating holidays pertaining to their home culture. This is most often found in individual homes, or at gatherings where people from the same place come together. One example is how immigrants would come to this country, speak their native language in their own home, and then speak English in public, because that is the native language the majority here speak. What does matter is that they acknowledge that they are a part of a different society than the one they left, and it is their job to help add to that society, and make it better, not to try to recreate the one they left at the expense of the one that already exists in their new home.

What is important to note, is that not even Athenian democracy was a pure democracy. I actually agree with this point. Knowles states it's a matter of tradition, but the vast majority of baby boys that receive a circumcision are not Jewish/even practicing Jews, nor are they subjected to it based on a religious belief. While I find Knowles to be a very intelligent man generally, and makes many good arguments, he REALLY needs to stop making arguments from authority, particularly using religion. Even Shapiro, as religious a man as he is, has acknowledged numerous times that arguing from an authority your opposition doesn't recognize has little to no effect. On a somewhat lesser note, he would also be better off not using the "It's been done for so long" argument. Lots of terrible practices have been in place for long periods of time. War for one example, and slavery for another. When there is nothing to move while washing except the hand, it is easier to properly clean yourself. I dont know much about female circumcision, but I do know there are medical benefits to removing the foreskin.

Looks like a lot of people are upset about Michael's answer to the circumcision question. I agree that his answer wasn't very good. However, circumcision is not just some random barbaric act. There are several benefits of circumcision and essentially no negatives. I get the argument that you are altering a person's body without their consent, but when this alteration does little harm and does provide benefits, I don't really have an issue with it. Let's say a person is unconscious and you have to cut off their arm to save their life. Obviously this would be okay. And if the person is mad that you altered their body without their consent, then that's too bad and they can kill themselves if they feel that way. On another note, circumcision is NOT the same as female genital mutilation. FGM provides no benefits and causes significant harm so this indeed is wrong.
